We will be leaving for STT on Thursday (YIPPPPPEEE!) and I think that I read on here that you CANNOT take the car to St. John if you rent from Thrifty. Is this true? They're closed already, so I'm kind of anxious to find out. I've already made "reservations" online with Avis and Budget just to be on the safe side. I'm leaning more towards Budget at this point, and I know that you can take the car to STJ using their cars. Any info would be super appreciated!

Thanks!
A

I'm reserved with Thrify in 33 days...the ability to take the vehicle to STJ was key in my decision to go with them. This is taken from the info at the bottom of my e-mail confirmation:

THRIFTY does NOT accept the use of a Debit/Check Card at this location.
Driving is on the left side of the road. Vehicles may be taken into St. John for more details inquire at the rental counter.

Please please post a follow-up when you return about your experience with Thrifty. I don't expect any problems, but I'd be eager to hear your first-hand account. Thanks.

Why have you made reservations with 2 and now maybe three car rental companies? Don't you think this is unfair to the 2 companies you blow off? Or to the people who can't find a rental car because you have three reserved?

I'm almost positive that I read on this message board that you can't take cars over to STJ using Thrifty. I'm going to guess that when I call Thrifty tomorrow they'll say that we will be allowed for an extra charge. If so, I will then CANCEL the other rentals and use Budget. Just in case anyone was worried or concerned about that.

We have rental from budget several times in the past and have been very pleased. There is no extra charge to go to St. John.

You can reserve through travelocity for budget and get the travelocity promise on your trip.

Have a great time! We are headed there at the end of the month!
