I am thinking of staying at one of these places. Looking for advice on either one.

The beach at Bolongo is nicer. Bolongo is not a big "corporate" type of place. Much more laid back. They also have a greqat place called Iggies that has Caribean shows, Caribbean Buffets, sand volleyball courts, Karaoke nights, etc. The Wndham, even though it is nice, is not as 'friendly', IMHO. If you DO decide to go with the Wyndham, don't opt for the all inclusive package, as it will be a waste. Most people want to leave the resort and explore, so you never seem to get your money's worth.

If you like a quiet, laid-back place to stay, Bolongo Bay Beach Club is for you. It is the only place I stay when I'm in STT.

The owners and staff are very friendly. The Beach House restaurant is great. Iggie's is a fun place and it is right on the beach. The rooms are very clean, and only a few steps to the beach.

I highly recommend them.

Bolongo by far has the nicest beach. It has a very good fancy restraunt as well as a laid back beach bar called Iggies.

Highly recommend it. The Doumeng family who owns it are extremely nice. Wyndham think Marriott. Just a corporate place with corporate feel.

Which would be better Marriott Frenchman's reef or Wyndham Sugar Bay for two 30 yr olds? Thanks

Are these 30 yr olds men? Women? A couple?

If men, The Wydham would be better, not because there are necessarily more single women there, but because you are closer to Red Hook. Red Hook has some good nightlife.

If women, The Marriott might be better, as it's property is very nice. Classy, nice landscaping, closer to town for shopping, free ferry to town.

If a couple, go to Secret Harbor. Much more romantic than either Wyndham or Marriott, nice beach with good snorkeling, great restaurant, close to Red Hook and the ferries to other islands.

JMHO.

Thanks for the info. It's a company trip and my husband and I were to stay at the Marriott but at last minute found out Marriott is overbooked and they are moving some of us to the Wyndham, and since we had done all of our research on the Marriott thought I'd get a little on the Wyndham.

Hello Sheri,

Wyndham is a very nice property; the beach is small, definately beach hop and see a few of our other beaches. There are a couple restaurants/bars, a lovely pool, not sure if they still have the live local band performing once a week - if so, that's a nice time. Its pretty close to Red Hook for more restaurants, lots of charters start there if you were interested in that, the Red Hook ferry to go over to St. John; so a convienient location. Have a great time.

Just got back from STT.....unfortunately!
We did visit most of the resorts, yet did stay at Bolongo for 5 days, then Secret Harbor the last 5 days. Very different - Bolongo was more fun as far as the friendliness of the staff, water activities, the beautiful food & ambience at the Beach House Restaurant, and the general laid-back atmosphere. The rooms are not "The Ritz" by any stretch, but comfortable for the little time you spend there. Iggies is just downright fun, also. Secret Harbor is very quiet and just beautiful...great snorkeling right there. Had an awesome condo just steps from the beach. Blue Moon Restaurant - good food, questionable service.
The Wyndham is a much larger resort - very nice. Great pool area, but the beach is tiny and the water is not so clear. Different class of people there....we have stayed in some of the fanciest hotels in the world (esp. in Sydney $700/night), but love the small laid-back resorts much better because we just enjoy real people!

Whatever you decide, you can always visit the other beaches anyway!
