We are making plans to visit St. Thomas next winter and are thinking about staying at the Wyndham Sugar Bay. Wondering if anyone who has stayed there could tell us about their experience? Thanks.

Hi,

I stayed at the Wyndham Sugar Bay a little over a year ago. The rooms were pretty clean, not bad for an Island. The food at the breakfast buffet was good...It's kinda hard to screw up breakfast. Lunch was grill food by the pool. Kinda hard to screw up hamburgers, hotdogs and grilled chicken. Dinner was not good. I would reccomend eating out at night. St. Thomas has some fantastic eateries. The nightlife was boring, and the bar in the hotel smelled. Service was decent. The beach is small and rocky, not much to see snorkeling. Head over to MAgens Beach.
I got a great price on my package which was all inclusive so I really can't complain. I would have been disapointed if I payed full price. The marriott is definately nicer, stay at their Morningstar property. The Ritz is beautiful but pricey. The Westin ST. John is a better choice.

Have Fun!!

My husband and I will be staying at Cinnamon Bay for a week starting June 5. On our last trip we ate at the Wyndham on St. Thomas and plan to do so again but also we would like to go to Coral World so I am thinking of booking a night at the Wyndham. Does anyone have any thoughts on this idea? Other suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Andih49:

You really do your investigative work (pulling up 8 year old posts).

We stay next door to the Wyndham at the Point Pleasant Resort.

For the most part, people we talk to have made good comments about the Wyndham.

Suggest that you go to TripAdvisor for more recent comments.

Spending only one day on St. Thomas might be too short of a stay.

To be honest I've never heard of anyone coming from St John to St Thomas just to eat at the Wyndham (or any other resort here) as it doesn't rank up there as any sort of a grand culinary experience when so much better can be found on island. If you want to spend a day and an evening on STT then just hop on the ferry for the day - the ferries leave Red Hook on the hour up until midnight so you'd have plenty of time to enjoy Coral World and a nice dinner (at the Wyndham or somewhere else) before heading back to STJ. Have fun whatever you decide to do!

We just returned from spring break in St. Thomas and we stayed at the Wyndham. I think it worked out very well for our family of four. The room given to us had two sinks (one in the bath room and one in the hall next to the bathroom). The view we had was spectacular so go ahead and pay for an upgrade on the view it is worth it. The pool is awesome and the beach is certainly nice enough. We had day trips planned the entire week and only stayed one whole day at the Wyndham (which happened to be the last day we were there). We all agreed that we could have just snorkeled and visited the Coral World area and THEN returned to the Wyndham-5 minutes away- to ENJOY the beach instead of renting chairs and dragging our cooler there. The pool chairs at the Wyndham have the best cushion on them! And towels are available right there! Red Hook ferry is 5-8 minutes away and you can travel easily to St. John.
