Hi
my husband and I stayed there in Feb 03 and are planning a trip back to same place next Feb ,what we wanted were lazy days on the beach no deadlines and a peaceful resort (as opposed to the frantic pace in Cancun) there were always chairs available at pool (sit by waterfall to drown out other noise!) and beach. Food was good but did go out several times as lobster wasn't available there. Got to know several of locals and one tip is go to the Ritz brunch on Sun. also go to magens beach early,9am, and eat breakfast there. Also early times beats the cruse ship passengers, rent a float and head down the beach to the left, never crowded there, pizza at snack shop best on island. Visit awhile with hostess at poolside restaurant, get to know server and let local shopkeepers Know you are staying on the island and they are much friendlier, I dont believe the myth that they cater to cruise ship passengers. Explore the downtown lots of shops in alleyways, best t-shirts at the local market set up in a parking lot. Go to St Johns for the day, beautiful! Also Iguanas are attracted to red so watch the cherry in your drink and toenail polish! Have a Great time!
