My husband and I are looking to take one last vacation together before we start a family and we love the Virgin Islands - we were hoping for an all-inclusive so we don't have to worry about our bar bill and can just enjoy. Seems like there is a lot of conflicting info out there about the Wydham Sugar Bay - can anyone give me some REAL feedback on the service, food, location, etc? Thank you!!!

Tara - Not sure of what you look for when staying at a hotel (i.e. many people expect the Ritz at half the price and need someone to polish their a** every minute)...but here's my two cents.

I'm 36, married, mother of 2 kids (7 and 9). My husband and I have stayed here three times (2 times w/o kids). The service, in my opinion, is wonderful. Many friendly, helpful, fun people including bartenders, kids club nannies, servers, water sport coordinators, etc. Everything is "island time" though no matter where you go. No worries! They have the usual buffet restaurant which has its theme nights. Nothing fancy - - some food really good, some OK. They also have a couple nicer restaurants in which you need reservations but is covered in the A.I. plan. Location is GREAT. You are literally 5 min from Red Hook where you can catch a ferry to St. John, Tortola, Virgin Gorda. The beach at Wyndham is a bit rocky, but not horribly so. Nice snorkeling. The pool area is awesome! Drink selection -- awesome with top shelf brands. Great frozen drinks, too! They also have a shuttle to take you to/from the pool/beach area so you don't need to do the 99 steps all the time. Good exercise, though. Also they have a great spa, a great "collection" of iguanas (you can watch them being fed every day, which is cool). For the money - - we love it! If you like to drink during the day, an AI is the only way to go. We would easily spend $100/day in drinks otherwise. Wyndham is the best of the AI's, my opinion. Heard good things about Bolongo Bay -- I think a younger crowd, Iggies is fun. I would highly recommend Wyndham. And sign up for Wyndham By Request on their website, which will allow you an extended checkout, wine/snacks in you room when you arrive and a few other perks.

Hello there.
We also stayed at the Wyndham last year. (After reading some not so nice reviews, we were a bit worried on our way down) We didn't go with the AI because we didn't think we would make it back to the resort for every meal. We soon found out there was no need for worrying!

The beach as LandLocked pointed out is a little rocky upon entry (take water shoes!), but its still good snorkeling once you get past the rocks. My kids were able to handle it (ages 6, 9) I second what was said above about the pool area, the kids loved going down for a night swim, and the area is large enough if you want to stay away from us families with kids (even though we are always on our best behavior..lol!! 😉 We were able to see some neat entertainment while down there as well. Ah yes, there are really those 99 steps 🙂 The rooms were clean and newer, service was good. I think the only thing that I could wish for is more direct access to the beach area. That said, St. Thomas is such a beach hopping type place, that it really wasn't on the top of our list as far as desired features, so we are staying there again this April!

I just saw the Wyndham being featured for some 40% off discounts if booked via Liberty Travel. Check their website...
