WE ARE THINKING ABOUT STAYING AT THE WYNDHAM SUGAR BAY RESORT FOR OUR HONEYMOON. WE WANTED TO STAY AT AN ALL- INCLUSIVE RESORT AND THE WYNDHAM SOUNDED LIKE THE NICEST. I'M AM WORRIED ABOUT NOT HAVING ENOUGH TO DO THEIR AT THE RESORT, BUT FEELING OBLIGATED TO STAY THEIR BECAUSE IT IS ALREADY PAID FOR. DOES ANYBODY THAT HAS STAYED HERE HAVE ANY ADVICE OR SUGGESTIONS?

Stayed there with my 8 year old son and husband in 1999, What a ripoff! No beach to speak of (all no-seeums biting you and rocks) and if you don't make reservations way ahead for the meals in the main dining room, you eat from the warming tables by the pool, i.e., crummy food. Pool was nice, but so what, you'll be spending most of your time off the Wyndham property because you can easily travel to beautiful St. John's and the British Virgin Islands. And yes, we loved the area so much we are booked at the Sapphire Beach Resort for 2 weeks from 12/24/01 until 1/7/02. They have a beautiful beach there and the price is about the same. Don't stay at the Wyndham unless you like to eat buffet style food and stay in a very small room when you can have a condo (and if you do book anything oceanview, or why go)??? And if you, as honeymooners, want to stick around one place all day and nite, don't book the Virgin Islands, just go some cheap place with a view of some water because there's too much stuff to see and do in even a couple weeks. By the way, the main dining room was buffet style food too, yuck.

Stayed there in July of 2001 and found it a good deal for the package. True about the dining room. book tomorrows dinner reservation at breakfast today! Dining room food was NOT buffet and rather good (breakfast was buffet but with an omelet station, etc.) Poolside food was ok for dinner but preferred the dining room. Honetmooners be warned, NO room service! "open bar" a plus. Pool was nice , beach was small but certainly adequate with decent snorkeling, gear free. Make sure you get a room with a view of St. Johns ( hotel is shaped in a semi-circle so get as far away from the fron entrance wing as you can). Great in the morning and outstanding as the lights come on at dusk.

I stayed at Sugar Bay last October. What a glorious place! I had to be led away kicking and screaming. But the strange thing was the lack of activity at the beach and pool after dark. I am not a drinker so the bar/restuarant may have been "happening". Another advantage I discovered was there were lots of couples who were more interested in enjoying a peaceful, relaxing getaway rather than partying into the wee hours. Definitely a trip worth taking again...
