Anyone know how the wyndham resort is? It look sreally nice from the pics. I also saw they have an all inclusive package through AAA. It seems like a great deal. Also, is there a lot to do around that area? The resort staff friendly? Service good? The usual questions 🙂 Also, are there any cool excursions such as hiking/mountain climbing on St. Thomas?

Thanks

Sugar Bay is great, but expensive. I actually worked there many years ago. It is very beautiful and they have a a small but gorgeous beach. The pool and Hottub are fantastic and the service is done with a smile. There are many things to do, as you are close to the east end and can plan a daytrip to ST John or Virgin Gorda(Baths) out of Red Hook on a ferry. You can even bring your rental car to ST John to explore! You MUST go to the Baths on Virgin Gorda if you like exploring, its one of the most unusual, peaceful places on earth 🙂 Enjoy

We have a large group and for three years have stayed at the Wyndham...it has all the amenitites you expect and the food is good for an AI....the drinks are plentiful. I think the AI at Whyndham is agreat value...This year we tried Beaches at another island and did not at all compare to the service and food we got at the Wyndham...That said...it has gotten a litttle rundown over the years......and as many St. Thomas accomadations expect a hike down many steps to get to the pool and beach...that is also what makes the room views nice is that the hotel sits up on a hill...We always rent a car and take excursions to St. John, Jost Van Dyke, shopping, Megans Bay, etc. You cant walk to anywhere close but there are many places to visit in a short drive..Wyndham is good especially with kids...we have a large family and they all want to eat different times ...they have a kids program toowhich was pretty good...

Had a great stay at the Wyndham last month - ask for Building H, somthing on the 7th floor. The views are incredible.

We opted not to go AI, and were glad. The food was fair, and with the abundance of great places to eat nearby, ate well. Our room had a refrigerator and small "pantry", so we stocked up with coffee/breakfast makings. You can buy a burger next to the beach/pool. Restaurants we loved included Fungi's at Point Pleasant (next door), Off The Hook in Red Hook, and Noche and Oceana in French Town. Ask Norris (front lobby) or Janetha (Guest Rewads Program) for recommendations as well. Sign up on their website for their Guest Rewards Program and you'll have additional special amenities provided to you.

Their dining rooms seem a bit institutional - filled with families all eating the same limited number of entrees.

The pools were cloudy and as I had had surgery in the Spring, was not going to chance it. Rent a car from Avis at the airport. They will let you take it on the ferry to St. John. Great beaches include Big Maho and Cinnamon, among others. If you are beaching it on St. John, you shouldn't need a four wheel drive.

Happy travels!
