Has anyone gone to Woody's Bar in Cruz Bay? They got a real nice write-up in my Caribbean Travel magazine this month. I was wondering if it is the happening place to go while we are in St John. Whats the crowd like? Whats the food like? Thanks

Woody's is great. Great food and a real fun atmosphere. Small & Cozy. Great Happy hour with $1 beers and wells. More of a neighborhood bar than duffy's, which is more of a club. Try the mahi sandwich, its delish. It does get kinda crowded in the evenings and stills into the street which justa adds to the fun. Enjoy.

I lived on St. John and worked at Woody's for over two years. It is a whole-in-the-whole kinda place. Much smaller than most people expect. But, it is THE place to be from 3-6, daily. The crowd is usually loud and drunk, but FUN. It's a true melting pot, and one of the few places on the island where you will see locals/USA transplants, West Indians, and tourists mingling and having fun together.

Woody's has a website that you can have a look at. The weekly photos in particulat can give you a feel for the place.

Woodys is truly awesome and a great place to take in the atmosphere of St. John. The happy hour is great, friendly staff, quick drinks. Small but perfect location in the middle of it all. The food is ok with a lot of fried food on the menu Shark bites, conch fritters, fries, finger foods mainly. I would not recommend it for dinner but a couple appys are fine for a late night snack or a quick simple lunch. You can also get things to go if you'd like to take back to your abode.
