Knowing nothing about the topography of the island can anyone tell me if you can walk from Charlotte Amalie to Magen's Bay or are the roads to steep and narrow?

Oh no....way too dangerous. Roads are narrow-hilly and cars/trucks really zip around

Hello Bob,

The roads are very steep and that distance would be quite a hike... I have walked to Magens from a much closer spot then the cruise dock area ONCE - LOL, actually twice... the second time served only to remind me that I had forgotten how long a trek it was. Walking is walking - you can walk anywhere there is a solid ground but I know that isn't what you were really asking. Most of the roads outside of commercial areas don't have sidewalks so you are walking on the road itself and sometimes when a car comes zipping by you literally have to step into the grass on the side of the road... the grass isn't short in all areas. Unless you are walking for sports/fitness/training (if this is the case I'd recommend an area with less traffic - maybe Water Island or hiking on St. John) I agree take a cab or rent a car to get to Magens.

Thanks all. Guess walking on the island is out, I'll take a cab as needed.
