A friend and myself will be traveling from California to attend the festival this year in Cramer's Park on January 7, 2007. We are looking for basic and clean accommodations for approximately 7 nights. No air conditioning is required but would like something within walking distance of the festival and beach if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for a place to stay? We would appreciate any tips and info anyone can offer!

Blessings...

Carmers Park is on the far east end of STX. There are absolutely no "basic and clean" accomodations within walking distance. My two suggestions would be Divi Carina Resort (5-10 minutes by car/taxi) or Tamarind Reef resort (10-15 minutes away. They both have web sites. Your other option would be a condo rental for the week, but this is high season and that might be pretty pricy.

Good luck.

Cramers Park is way out on the east end of St Croix (just a little short of the most eastern land that is part of the USA). Lynda J is right. You will need a car to get around. ($250 for the week) The cheaper accommodations are in Christiansted, which is a 20 minute drive to the west. There are some condos out east (Reef, Coakley, Southgate) but during winter they will be at least $1500 for the week. You also might check out Chenay Bay.

I think your most economical stay will be Christiansted. It will also put you in walking distance of food and shopping. Infact you might be able to stay there without a car and take a taxi to Cramer's.

Hail Francesca. Yes, the Divi will be your best bet if you want to be closest to the venue..... What day are you arriving? I'll be there from the 4th. Bless, daniel
