will be on STJ for my honeymoon and we are wine drinkers with dinner, especially when on vacation. just wondering what we are likely to find as far as A. Selections and B. prices.

We keep a wide range of wine around but mostly we pay in the $15-$20 range at home. Kendall Jackson, Mondavi, etc.
We also LOVE Vueve Cliquot Champagne which sells for around $40 here in central New Jersey.

I also read something about good liquor prices at Kmart in STT. Anyone know if they have wine as well? Any recommendations on wine sources on STT or STJ?

Thanks.

Marybeth:

You will find your favorite wines on STT (I don't know about STJ). Try the Marina Market in Red Hook (just accross from the Ferry dock). They have a good "wine room". Also, a decent selection of French & Italian wines. Prices are a bit higher in STT for wine than here in NJ. I believe I saw your champagne in Cost U Less (next to the movie theater - Home Depot area Mall on STT), but call first.

Liquor (not wine) is a lot cheaper in the USVI than NJ and there's no 6% sales tax. Best prices for liquor (in my opinion) is at Cost U Less. K-Mart at the TuTu Mall, STT, is a bit higher.

Congratulations of your wedding.

Regards,

F.I.

P.S. Our favorite beach on STJ is Honeymoon Beach (adjacent to the Caneel Bay Resort).

Ah, wine and champagne drinkers, my favorite! Wine prices on STJ, which we got at the markets around Coral Bay are about on par with the Boston area, maybe a buck or two more at the most, no big deal, good selection. You'll be happy.

We bought cases of wine for our daughter's wedding at Cost U less - got Santa Margarita PinoGrigio for around 12 a bottle - cheaper than US prices. Kendall Jackson was a bit more expensive than US price, but I called ahead to order the required cases.

...also a great wine bar in Red Hook in the same area as Duffy's. The name escapes me at the moment, though.

I was going crazy trying to remember the name of that place. I can sleep peacefully now, dreaming of better weather, blue waters and XO's 🙂

I'm in the wine and spirits industry in the vi...the best prices for wine and champange is Cost Uless - If you have a serious palate then Gourmet Gallery has the best selection on island - He has a vertical of Opus that goes from 1988 to present.

On the other hand, Cline Red Truck is cheaper at the Food Center than it is at Cost-U-Less. (Someone really drinks Opus?)

When they have it, it is $12.99 at Cost-U-Less, $10.99 at Food Center. Have also seen it at Marina Market. I believe it is a Premier Wine product...

We were introduced to it at Tage!
