Will be arriving in St Thomas next week for 8 days.

How are the islands? I know you guys had a lot of rain. Are the roads in good
shape. No wash out. I have been watching the weather reports and looks
good next couple of weeks. But you never know though.

This is our 2nd triip there and cannot wait. We need a vacation.

My wife and I are coming with 2 other couples. We thought the guys might
go out and do some deep sea fishing. Do you guys recomomend anyone
for that.

The island is just as normal as it always is. You won't have any trouble from any of the storms that passed by.

As far as deep sea goes, depends on what you want to catch. If you want the guys to have a great 1/2 day, go with Doubleheader for an afternoon trip. They will have a great time and will come back with dinner for several nights! Tell Jonathan or Wendy when you book that Marty recommended them. Helps me get preferential treatment when I go with them! Haha! Seriously, though, they are my personal fav. You WILL catch fish with them! If you want to go for marlin, there are many that do those trips as well as Doubleheader), but it's just such a hit and miss typeof thing that you might get a 1,000 pounder...or go for a whole week and get nothing. IMHO, stick with tuna, wahoo, mahi, shark, etc. Always a good day that way! Call Jonathan or his wife Wendy at 340-777-7317 to book.

Thanks Marty!!

I too was thinking about sticking with the smaller fish like mahi & tuna.

Thanks for pointing me to Doubleheader. Do they have a WEB site.

We cannot wait. the other couples have never been to VI so it should
be fun

Thanks

Hey, Kevin,

I just looked for a web site for Doubleheader and I didn't find one that is just theirs, but if you go here: http://www.worldwidefishing.com/stthomas/b1097/?page_type=salt&state_page=stthomas&company=Double+Header+Sportfishing you'll get everything you are looking for.

My first time fishing with them, 3 guys and a girl, we caught 37 tuna on a half day trip...and lemme tell ya! That's ALOT!! It got to the point where a fish would bite and we would argue about who was gonna fight it cuz we were all too tired!! They ranged anywhere from 5 lbs to about 45 lbs...and a 5 pounder fights like a 35 pound salmon! My worst day with them was 13 tuna between four guys...and that's just what we got in the boat! The sharks got about 5 of 'em! Then Jonathan got out the big gear and we caught the shark! About 300 lbs, we're guessing. We didn't bring him home, but the fight sure was fun!

I always do a half day trip on the south side, as a full day is just too much work! Haha! And I always do the afternoon, as the fish seem to bite better. The first couple of hours won't be very exciting...but at about 4:30 it'll be like someone flipped a switch! You'll have 2 or 3 on at a time (hence the name "Doubleheader") and the cap'n and mate will be earning their tips as they bait your lines and remove the fish. It's like a production line! Then you get to take the first 10-20 lbs of fish home so you can cook it yourselves, or give it to a restaurant and they'll cook it for you. Just call them and give them a couple hours notice, but most will accomodate your fresh catch. You are gonna have SOOOO much fun!

Marty,

Thanks for all the great info. We will for sure give these guys a call. .

We are so excited. Cannot wait.

I love to cook and will be doing most of the dinners for everyone.
So to bring back some fresh fish to cook at the villia would be
very cool.

I checked the WEB site and it looks really good. Do you know if they
provided drinks? (water, soft drinks, beer). I guess when I contact
them I ask then.

It's nice to be able to talk to someone who has used them. That is
how we have found the different villia's we rent.

Where do you live Marty?

Marty,

I had one other question. How many guys can they handle? And is the
cost per boat or person.

Thanks

Hi, Kev,

Yep, they provide soda, water and beer. But every time I go, they see me and say, "Whoops! Forgot Marty is coming. Better get another 12!" Haha! But, I think that is because they don't consider themselves a leisurely party that just happens to fish. They are SERIOUS about it! But that's probably because all of the fish that are caught (YOU are gonna catch 'em-you are basically paying them so you can work for them! haha!),except for the 20 lbs you take home, they sell to the restaurants. That's how they keep the prices so low. The cost is per boat, up to four fishermen.
