I go to STJ every year, and my AT&T iPhone works tolerably well. This year I'm taking my sister, and she has a simple go-phone from T-mobile (no data, just cell phone).

I've looked around and I'm seeing very conflicted reports of whether T-mobile works or not. Can anyone give the definitive word?

thanks

It will most likely work as well as any other phone as long as you don't mind the roaming charges.

The USVI is in the T-Mobile network. No roaming charges. Just minutes used from the monthly allotment.

Beware on STJ. Make sure the phone is connected to T-Mobile and not one of the BVI networks (... or you will get overseas use charges - maybe $4.00 per minute). This also can happen on the east-end of STT.

When a merger with AT&T was in the works, T-Mobile's coverage map showed the USVI. Not anymore, I guess she'll have to call.

This can happen anywhere on STT as well if the cell tower is down for some reason (bad weather, etc.) but you are most likely to have this occur in STJ under any conditions. Look at your where your cell phone signal is coming from when making a call, in order to avoid the horrendous charges from getting a BVI signal.
