I just wanted to give a warning out there to everyone to AVOID at all costs the Wikked restaurant at Yacht Haven. I had what was allegedly a pork taco but the meat was soooo cold I swear I could taste a few ice crystals. With the ice melting from my meat, the water caused by the melting ice, made the taco soggy. Sadly, my wifes chicken taco was the same.

Never got asked if I wanted another drink, and never once checked on until I had to hunt my waitress down for the check. I think if someone leave most of their meal on the plate you might want to ask why. NOPE.

The semi warm fries were the only redeeming part of the meal.

Lex, i agree with you. There's alot of places we've eaten here at home or somewhere else. I believe that he had a bad meal. In my opinion, I would of complained about it right away and taken it from there.

I really don't see why people have to be mean to anybody on these boards those and I believe some have.

Think before you reply to a post.

"I really don't follow this dump on St Thomian. "

The poster had a problem with a meal but kept it to himself and didn't give the restaurant an opportunity to fix it . Then he slammed the restaurant on the relocation board under his registered username. Locals on the relocation board have had overwhelmingly positive experiences at Wikked and disagreed with the poster's opinion. Then someone suggested that since locals seem to like Wikked, the poster's only hope for steering business away would be by steering tourists away, at which point he promptly cut and pasted his remarks and posted them on the travel forum under a different username. Wikked bills itself as casual dining, not fine dining, and had the restaurant been made aware of the problem, perhaps the matter would have been resolved to the poster's satisfaction. One lousy meal really doesn't merit the drama this post has generated.

I thought that these message boards were for people with questions, suggestions or tips.

I'm interested in reading people's positive and negative experiences. It falls to me to sort of sift through that info to get a sense of how I might find it for myself.

I do find it disappointing when posters sink to personal attacks. If I read a negative comment about a place i enjoy, i don't attack or criticize the poster. I share my positive experience of the place.

Connie, with all due respect, I think you are beating a dead horse. Had you read the whole thread it is patently obvious why some took objection to the original post and for what reasons.

dntw8up summed it up succintly : "One lousy meal really doesn't merit the drama this post has generated."

And STT...with all due respect to you, i did read the WHOLE thread and personally, I think that Stu or whomever didn't attack anybody personally, like others did, he gave his opinion on a place that he went and had a bad meal. People can judge for themselves whether they would want to go there or not. That's what the post was about...a bad meal.

Lex, i agree with you...there's so many times when people have had wonderful meals somewhere. If they've had bad meals, I want to hear that too.

Hey you funny bunnies. I think that after Stu told his story there were others that commented on their experiences there and others suggested he may have handled it differently.

PS. I would never expect to get good Mexican food in the VI's nor would I expect in Mississippi.

Well now, Promo,
I've had good Mexican food in some pretty unsuspecting places, just don't ask me where they were! Ha!

StThomian,
To not say anything about lousy food, and still paying for it is,...kinda silly.
To not say anything about lousy food, still paying for it, and then ragging on it later is,...kinda silly.

Maybe, you should just get comfortable with being honest, telling it like it is, to the folks you are doing business with.
Putting your money where your mouth is concerned or, vis-versa, is a freeing experience.

If you do it right, they'll want you to return and enjoy yourself by acknowledging the problem. If you still try to do it right, and they don't care, you've saved yourself a headache and some bucks to spend on the next place, the next time.
If you actually do live in St. Thomas, I suspect that good local customers are important to them, as they are the ones that get them by in the down times. Speak up!! Then, come back and tell us what happened.

Promoguy,

What do you know about Mississippi??? In Natchez, is the famous Fat Mama's Restaurant where you can get the best tamales and a Fat Mama's Knock You Naked Margarita. And here in Atlanta, you can go to quite a few Mexican Restaurants that if you do not speak Spanish, well I guess if you don't speak Spanish you go to the American Mex Rest across town. 🙂 LOL. I'll send you a Fat Mama's T-shirt if you would like... Don't tell me there isn't any good Mexican Restaurants over there in your town!

Teresa

My extreme apologies to Teresa. I in fact, know that Atlanta does in fact have some decent places. But come on, tamales and Fat Mama's.

Viva La Raza......you'll know that phrase if and when the 'z' cards are approved.

Awe shucks, thanks for the apology although not needed.

I still think it is funny when people think that a tamale is a vegetable or pepper and just had to throw in Fat Mama's 'cause I love them tamales and rita's!!!

As far as Viva La Raza, I already know what it means and cant' talk about it here.... I have lots of thoughts on the subject though!!!!

I thought "tamale" was a newbie's shortening of "Charlotte Amalie." Teresa, pay no attention to promoguy's post - for true an XXL especially after his upcoming visit...
