I just wanted to give a warning out there to everyone to AVOID at all costs the Wikked restaurant at Yacht Haven. I had what was allegedly a pork taco but the meat was soooo cold I swear I could taste a few ice crystals. With the ice melting from my meat, the water caused by the melting ice, made the taco soggy. Sadly, my wifes chicken taco was the same.

Never got asked if I wanted another drink, and never once checked on until I had to hunt my waitress down for the check. I think if someone leave most of their meal on the plate you might want to ask why. NOPE.

The semi warm fries were the only redeeming part of the meal.

Since you signed on as Stu Scott on the relocation board with this complaint, I can only infer that this is one and the same.Tell it to the management, Stu. (And read the board rule about not creating multiple screen names.)

I didn't create multiple screen names I just can't login for some reason over here.

East Ender you need to realize what free speech is... People post their reviews of everything on St Thomas, so why can't I?

I wonder if anyone else has tried it. I thought Sherri had. I know it has been mentioned here before - can't remember the context of the discussion.

Have you checked with Islander about the log on problem?

Stu, you should have gone up to someone other than the server and said, hey, replace these tacos, cuz I ain't paying for them. I do that all the time if I'm served crapola.

I'm always afraid of replaced food, I'm worried a pissed off chef is going to add a little extra to it if you know what I mean.

There's a right way and a wrong way of doing it.

Wow, and people used your services to get a foothold on the island. Maybe that's why you only had 5 clients at the most.

Promo,
What services? Just trying to pay attention...and yes, you're totally correct with a right way and wrong way to send food back. What happen to common sense here?

I have had several meals at Wikked with no complaints. I am not big on restaurant recommendations. I have read here enough times where somebody goes on and on about how terrible a place is and I like the food or the opposite where they talk about having the best meal of their lives at a place that I think is awful.

It is always interesting to read peoples opinions and that is exactly what this board is for but Stu or St. Thomanian you need to realize that just because you had one bad meal does not mean the place needs to be closed down. Like was recommended, there is a proper way to go about complaining without getting nasty stuff thrown in your food. I think if a manager noticed ice in your taco they would be embarrassed as well as the cooking staff and you would have a safe replacement and an apology. If you are that paranoid you should of at least pointed it out to the management and asked for it to be taken off your bill and just sat there and enjoyed a very nice view with some adult beverages.

Stu: I believe that the free speech issue was settled a while back. It isn't free speech to yell "Fire" in a crowded theater, for example. I am definitely not a lawyer, and I didn't even sleep in a Holiday Inn last night....

What did I miss? Did Stu do something wrong to one of our forum friends? Why are we jumping on him like this?

Somebody PM me and share. Otherwise, this thread seems a little quick on the draw. Ouch!

Blu: I think the concensus was/is that Stu shot from the hip and didn't offer his opinion in a diplomatic way. He COULD have said something to the effect that he decided to try the restaurant and didn't have a very good experience, etc. rather than coming out with all guns blazing.

I guess the bottom line is that - as has been noted in this thread - Stu really should have nicely brought the lack of food quality to the attention of the waitperson from the get-go and, if that provided no resolution, he should have asked to speak to the manager on duty. It's all in the approach. Saying nothing at the time does everyone a great disservice but to say nothing and then blast an establishment on an open forum is simply "not done." Cheers!

*A Davis stirred from her lurk to say...*

Blu, sounds like someone says that the person who posted as StThomian put the same post on two forums at VINow.com, leading to a violation of the terms ("Do not make false representations or create multiple user names."). I did see a post on the other board by someone else, or so it appears.

Sometimes people figure the more places they post a rant, the more people they will assist in avoiding their own calamity. Using two screen names complicated things. He says that he had problems logging in and so created a new name - the two forums are on two different server spaces according to the FAQ at the Relo Board:

"Can I use my VInow registration to log in here

No, the two boards are hosted on two separate websites so registration is required on each site independent of the other. If you intend to participate on both boards you are encouraged to register with the same username on both boards."

http://www.vimovingcenter.com/info/messageboard.php

So, he did not know... I'd cut him slack on this one... But I am sure that Wikked management would have appreciated the opportunity to make things right if they had known. They are just starting out and I have been hearing nothing but good things about them.

Hi there! Yes Blu, you are right, I did mention that I had been to Wikked! We have been only once and we had great service (and a Mojito too)!
Actually, we have been to Fat Turtle a few times and have had mixed reviews as far as the food there, but as mentioned above these restaurants are new and deserve more than one try...... Please let the management know if you are dissatisfied! You should not pay if you are not happy!

For what it is worth , I tried the other place , Grand Cru , I believe and the filet was wonderful ! I was pleasantly surprised . I agree with sherri , maybe all of them are working the bugs out , but the water front is a big plus for the island in my opinion !

We went here several times this past Feb. Loved the place. Food was excellent and reasonable and the service was exemplary. We actually thought they had too many waitresses. Could it all have changed that much since? I can't say but it would be a shame.

I really don't follow this dump on St Thomian. He obviously had a very bad experience and, I think, he has the right to express his dissatisfaction with the restaurant. Hindsight is always 20-20 when it comes to what other people think should have been done. To me, that is beside the point, the restaurant in this case really came up lacking, doesn't matter if it was an isolated case or not. I personally like to be forewarned about such things. A case of Salmonella food poisoning from undercooked food can really put a crimp in one's vacation (for several days!). The fact that others liked it and felt the food was good provides a counter balance. Kinda think that is the point of this board, share the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I think the process here is working fine. Someone hated the place, someone loved the place. I always disregard the best and worst reviews and find the truth somewhere in the middle. I'm quite quick to discount a review that finds absolutely nothing good about a place, just as I'll discount a review that gushes on and on about a place.

As for the matter of using more than one identity---even if he hadn't been able to actually log on, since he is known on the board, it might have been helpful to mention the matter in the body of the post.
