Boy, have I been spoiled! We started off years ago with the Mr. St. Martin board for a trip to St Martin and it was a good start. But then I found this about 2 years or so ago and was hooked! Why, you newbies ask?? Because:1) it is actively used, well managed, archived, etc and 2) people use it, regardless of controversy, regardless of the good threads, bad threads, who cares- YOU are all out there and HERE!
I am going to Cambodia in January for 3 weeks as a volunteer at a hospital and am desparate to find info like I do here. So I'm a newbie for a Cambodian adventure and there just isn't anything out there- yes, I ordered the Lonely Planet Guide which should be helpful but you know how this board is- you think of something you would like a few opinions on and BAM, you get responses. Not so with my new adventure and boy, what a void with nothing to fill it with! I now remember what newbies to the VI's feel, especially those who rarely travel otherwise. So I've traveled alot, still had much to learn about the VIs initially, and still can get useful info here even after 4-5 trips. I wish I could say the same about my newest adventure- alaoh well! PS- if you've been to Cambodia, I'd love a PM from 'ya- you're my only hope! But first, only 3.5 months to STJ- can't wait as always!

I really love the format of this board. It's really easy to use and read. Although, I'm getting a little annoyed with the spammers lately!

Another thing I like is the amount of locals who participate. They are a very inforamtiive and patient bunch!
