Has anyone charter the White Wing out of St John? I stumbled across their website and it looks beautiful and rather reasonable. I was wondering if the boat is in good shape and if the Captain and his wife are personable and reliable. Thanks

InLove...
My family and I were on White Wing lastChristmas Eve. Capt. Clark is a doll, the boat is georgeous, and the view sailing out of Coral Bay is incredible. I've been on many daysails, and this was the best by far. E-mail me if you have more questions, as I have been speaking White Wing's praises on this board since we returned and some might think I'm being redundant.

Well...I booked it! I was having trouble getting OTHER sailboat owners to return my calls/emails. The Captain's wife (Cathy) returned all my emails in less than a day and answered a thousand questions for me so far. They didnt even want a deposit. They only asked me to call them when I arrive in St John. If the service they have given me so far is any indication of what our day sail will be like...I'm sure it will be perfect. So...even though I have not seen the boat yet...I'd recommend contacting them!!!

Cathy and Clark are a great couple. Cathy is a bubbly person who will make your trip all the more enjoyable. She is also a masseuse so you might want to book her for a massage. All of you going on White Wing will be extremely happy.

Hey friends -

We just went out with Clark on the White Wing last week, and had a great time (yes, we're back in Boston now, and missing the lovely island! But that's another story). We found Clark to be very personable and easy-going. Ours was a full day sail, staying in USVI waters, so we didn't need to spend time dealing with British or US Customs (we were able to fit in two nice long snorkels, to Flanagan Island and Newfound Bay). Also, Clark will indeed allow you to pilot the boat if conditions are appropriate. I think the rates are listed on their web site, but our full day sail was $85/person, including lunch and drinks. BTW, Clark makes a damn tasty rum cocktail! Also, it appears that Cathy is not currently (or regularly?) going out on the boat, so if anyone is hoping to line up a massage you should be sure to specify that ahead of time...

I'll try to compile a more complete trip report soon - I know I always enjoy living vicariously through other people's descriptions, so I'll try to return that favor.
Dave

We've charted White Wing several times; it's a beautiful 46' cutter. A classic. There are more pics at: http://www.connectionsstjohn.com/Whitewing.htm

Have a wonderful sail!
