I'm in the process of planning my St. JohnJost trip (much earlier than expected, btw) and I'm definately going with white bay villas.

Has anyone stayed there before or recently? Only the "hillside cottages" are available, and supposedly they are brand new....I can't seem to find any info or pictures on the website about them. Just curious.

Is it a long, hard walk from the villascottages down to the beach? Bonnie suggested that we drive down....I didn't think it was going to be that far.

Also, for those of you also vacationing in late February, is this a classic spring break period for the college crowd? I don't mind crowds of people drinking, but I can only take so much of certain frat types...lol. I want to drink and relax, not get a live performance of girls gone wild...although the husband probably wouldn't mind.

Once my trip is offically booked (today or tomorrow), I will probably be posting more for advice on Jost in general..if you can point me in the direction of any classic jost posts, please do.

thanks, kimba

Kimba,
We are headed there tomorrow as a matter of fact staying in the new villas at White Bay. We've been to St. John but never Jost. I'll write a trip report when we return. I hear it's out of this world amazing. Jill

i wouldn't worry, the BVI's are not a spring break "hotspot". although some of the day trippers coming into white bay do resemble some crazy frat boys at times !! LOL !

I haven't been to the white bay villas but I love JVD. I have heard that the villas are on a hill and after a few painkillers in the sun, you may or may not want to walk. As for girls gone wild...you never know who you'll encounter on JVD. It is usually very low key but it is a BVI so I have seen more of other people (of ALL shapes, sizes and age) than I ever expected or cared to see. LOL!!! It' s part of its charm I guess. There is a vibe there that just takes you over and makes you feel like you haven't a care in the world. You won't be disappointed with the island thats for sure. I am going again in May. I usually stay at Sapphire on STT. Nice beach, reasonable rates and very close to the ferry. I have never stayed on JVD but I make a pilgrimage there every time. I have a 2 night stay planned this time because I never want to leave. We will be at Ivan's. You'll love it. Leticia

Thanks for all of the responses. I look forward to the trip report.

I've always taken day trips to JVD, and they always ending too early.

We stayed at the White Bay Villas this past November, had the entire Plantation House to ourselves, it was incredible to say the least. If you want to get a feel and a view from one of the hillside villas check out this video posting from the TTOL board:
