Hi,

I am new to this forum....hubby and I are considering a month's vacation in the USVI....which island would be best for that, and if you could recommend some houses (villas) 2 - 3 bedrooms that would be affordable for a month. Thanks very much

Angie

What is your budget? I have a home on Water Island that's currently got availability in December. 4 bedroom/2 bath. Beautiful sunset views. Wide wrap-around porch. 3 of the 4 bedrooms have access to the porch. All with King size beds. Transportation on Water Island provided at no additional charge for registered guests, 25 years of age or older with current license and insurance. Our current rate is $1800/week. See Flamingo Point Estate http://www.flamingopointusvi.com/ or advertised under "Water Island Accomodations" on VINOW. Send email via the "Contact Us" on our web site if you have additional questions.

I would choose STJ but if you have never been to STC why not split it up? I loved my stay at Carambola ( hotel) in STC and the restaurants we went to on our week there.

That is a good idea........I would think our budget would be around 8 - 900.00 a week? Is that not going to get me much? I would love 2 weeks on one island 2 on the other....something like that.

That's not going to get you much. Most places will cost you over a grand at least a week.

$800-$900 won't get you much for a few reasons....

One, December is "in season," so the rates are at their highest that time of year.

Two, Christmas week itself is the most expensive week of the year...most rental companies have three prices: off season, in season, and Christmas.

To give you an idea of pricing, check out:
http://www.caribbeanvilla.com/
and do an availability search. Put in the days you want to be there, and it'll give you a list of availabilities and check out the prices. That's for STJ and Tortola.

You might be able to get a slight price break if you do some negotiating since you want to rent for an entire month...it's easier for a rental agency to rent to one party for one month than four parties in a month...so you could contact some companies and see if they'll give you a little bit of a break.

If that is your budget, you could stay at the Brownings suite at the Watergate in STT. It is a reasonable nice place to stay Hop the ferry to STJ(car -$4, people $5) as much as you can. Read Bluwaters reports for excellent STT info & BVI ferry info. You can go over to the Baths in BVI for the day etc.
