Hello from the embattled nation of Georgia! I am about to retire and I've decided USVI will be my new home. I definitely won't go back to Minnesota. I've read the "Which island" material, but I'd like to hear some other voices. I like a quiet area with quiet beaches, where I can snorkel and be at peace with the world. I don't need big shops, but fast Internet would be nice. How about electricity and potable water? Thanks for any comments!

Go to the relocation message board (see "Visit Relocation Message Board top right this page.) There are loads of moving stories and loads of information about living here in general which should give you an idea of whether or not this is a practical idea. You can also access the VI Daily News online at www.virginislandsdailynews.com and the online newspaper, the Source, at http://.sts.onepaper.com. Hope this helps.

You might want to start your search with Water Island...then STX...then STJ....then STT....JMHO.

Each island has what you want!!! Each one also has its advantages as well as disadvantages. So to respond to such a broad request is hard to do.

Put a list together and then send it out.

Some general ideas.

St. Croix is much bigger, cheaper, and lots of things to do.

St. Thomas is very busy, more expensive than St. Croix, and has very different life styles depending on where you live.

St. John the ,most expensive, quiet and very nice to get away form everything.

Water Island is expensive, very few places to live.

But ANY island is beautiful!
