First of thanks for all the info on this board. My wife and I are going to St John for the first time. This is part vacation and part recon mission. We plan to have a family vacation next year so we are going to check things out. Tuff job, I know. I have been reading about the ferry to take and the times and cost. My question is, if our flight from Atlanta lands about 3:08 pm on Saturday May 9Th which Ferry should we shoot for? I am not sure how long it will take to get luggage and then catch a cab. We have thought about just getting a private cab to Red Hook and leaving from there. I do not want to get caught waiting for the 5:30 pm ferry to leave from CA. Any insight would be most grate full. We are looking forward to the trip. We have been going to Grand Cayman for the past few years and this should just as fun.

Thanks again for the info everyone has been providing on the Board. I feel like we all ready know the area and the people. Just looking forward to seeing everything in person.

It really depends on your plane arriving on time and getting your luggage. Then you can make the decision. It would be tight to get the 4pm CA.

My husband and I are on the same flight from Atlanta on the 9th. I too have received so much info from this message board.

Personally, I have always found it best to catch the Red Hook ferry there
And the return home ferry to CA

Here again timing is everything. But the Ride to Red Hook offers some unique views and is great introduction to Driving 101 on the islands. Try to sit up front with the driver. The new ferry dock in Red Hook has a small bar and great place to catch your breath.

The ride back I like to sit up top on the ferry to CA and smell the salt air and daydreaming when will be our next return - always thankful we got to do it this time.

Thanks for the info. We will probably just get a taxi to Red Hook and see the sights. Just ready to get there and enjoy some down time. Once again thanks for all the good info that has been posted on this board. It will make the trip more enjoyable. Will try to post pics and info on whatever we find when we go.
