which ferry to St John?

I am arriving on Thurs. around 3pm(hopefully), which ferry would be better to take? The one from Red Hook or downtown?

I assume you are arriving via plane.

I always recommend the Charlotte Amalie ferry. It is closer to the airport so you do not start the vacation in traffic and it is a nice trip to start Island time.
If you have issues with water trips or possible rougher ride relative to Red Hook, then take the longer taxi ride to Red Hook.

I always recommend the CA ferry, too. Seems to be alot less hassle and tends to be shorter...plus it's a nice ride from the upper deck and you get to check out STT from the water.
