I've been looking at StT daysails and they all look good. Any recommendations as to which one would be best with our 6 and 8 year old girls? They have never snorkelled before. It would be really neat to see the sea turtles up close. Wild donkeys would be a hit too. We're looking for a family friendly crew,as I think our expectations would be different than a honeymoon couple's or those looking for a party boat.

A six-pac sound like it would be best for you. Try the Jester. Heard good things.

Hi,
We sailed on the Winifred with Captain Sharon this past December with my family, kids ages, 14, 12 and 9 at the time. We really hadn't snorkeled before and the 2 older ones and I loved it. We have gone a few times since and it is great. The day sail was beautiful and we all loved it.

Hi All !!!

I am so excited reading all of these posts... my husband and I are leaving for StThomas in TWO weeks !!! I just discovered these message boards tonight -- reading of all your experiences has made me even more excited to get on that island !!!

I also am curious about the best daysail trips, though it will be just for the two of us (no children) -- the websites show so many sails, it's hard to choose without a recomendation... any insight on this would be greatly appreciated- also do these daysails require prior reservations or can we book one at the last minute when we get down there ??

Has anyone been parasailing ?? any particular place that is better than the others for this ?

Can't WAIT to try snorkeling -- I have a tendency to be a little claustrophobic ?? has this bothered anyone else while snorkeling ??

Thanks everyone for your help !!!!
enjoy your day 🙂

Hello,

Welcome to the board.

It is a good idea to book the daysail in advance, particularly if you are set on one or two in particular. Otherwise you will find yourself calling around trying to find one that is available.

With your claustrophobic tendency I would say snorkeling is your best bet for underwater exploration. Doing the BOB, seatrekkin, scuba or snuba might not work for you. Snorkeling you are able to very easily just put your head above water, take off the mask and feel like you are just swimming.

Dear All:

I had a marvelous experence with Captain Clark Beam on board Whitewing.

If you want a very special day on and in the water, Whitewing is "THE" boat for you.

The tag line for the boat is, "Swift, Strong, Seaworthy & Dry"

WHITE WING IS A 46-FOOT AUXILARY CUTTER DESIGNED BY CHARLES MORGAN IN 1964 FOR OFFSHORE OCEAN RACING.

For those of you who are real sailors, this is the boat and skipper for you.

Captain Beam is a real sailing pro and well versed in the area waters.

The 5 other members of my party(including two folks from Minnesota) were very comfortable on the boat.

My wife and I celebrated out 36th wedding anniversary on this boat and we feel we didn't make a misake chartering...Whitewing.

My wife and I just came back from STT on saturday. We reserved a daysail with Capt Jim and His boat "Jester" during our stay. Jim is a very nice guy, laid back and he really did a nice job.And I have to say that the meal he prepared for us was one of the better meals we had all week! Seems he was a chef before taking over sailing duties! He is also pretty flexible and will try to accomodate any concerns or ideas that you may have about your day at sea.We would definitly recommend "Jester"! Chuck
