I was in St. Thomas in the late 70's when I was in the US Navy, I was taken by taxie to a resort on a beautiful cove were I went snorkeling, their were boats anchored in the cove. on the beach their was a shack that rented snorkel gear and sunfish sail boats. I walked back to town, it was quite a walk. Does any one know where I was?? or is their not enough info.?
We are coming to the aera in january and would like to vist this spot again.
Thanks Les
Could be lots of places. Have fun looking for it when you return. Start in the East.
I would suggest Secret Harbour first.
Ronnie
Thanks, for the info, I can see it in my head, but I'm sure it was so long ago everything has proably changed
Hello Les,
Can you think of anything else, remember walking passed anything that really stood out... a fort, really steep hill/mountain, view of the harbor from above???
Like Ronnie mentioned that description could fit pretty much all the beach front resorts...

Also,
Did you take a look at the beach guide on this web site, under St. Thomas - Beaches... maybe you will see a picture and be able to pick it out.

I'm guessing your ship was anchored in Charlotte Amalie and not Sub Base since you mention walking back to town.
My guesses would be MorningStar or perhaps even Lime Tree (now Bluebeards) if you headed east from downtown. If you headed west my guess would be Lindberg Beach.
Other than that you would have had ONE HELLUVA walk from anyplace else that matches your description. And you're talking to one who has walked from Mountain Top to downtown and Dorothea to downtown on more than one occasion.
