Hello Moni,

Do you have a price range? do you want something in town or on the beach? You could try Hotel on the Cay - there was a realy good review about it a few days ago on this message board that you might read. There is also another review by Joanne you might read for places to go and do, its from a couple days ago also. Protestant Cay (Hotel on the Cay) is a nice spot and very close to Christiansted (just a 1-2 minute ferry ride) and so you have all the bars/restaurants there to visit.

Islander,

Okay...my price range is limited...however, I would like something nice.

I am visiting with my mum and sis.....I would also like to be near attractions so I would not be bored out of my mind....

I have family in St Croix but have not seen them in for years and years....I was not old enough to explore..but now I am...

I have to book today so if it is between Divi and Hotel...which would you prefer...

Hello Moni,

The Buccaneer is a beautiful resort; great!! but it is pricey.

Divi is also very nice - but its far from anything.

Hotel on the Cay is not fancy like Buccaneer or Divi, its a nice property but casual type of feel to it. It would allow very easy access to Christiansted and sites/shopping/restaurants there.

If you are staying at Divi you will most definately want to rent a car. Its a good idea to rent a car anyway just so you can see the island on your time but Divi is quite a ways from anything so I would recommend a car more strongly if that is your choice for an accomodation.

I have already booked a car for a week.

But, Divi....is there anything there besides the casino???

I called them and they told me that tons of people come there, especially on the weekends...I was also told is it like 25 minutes from Christiansted.

If I did book the hotel at the cay....where would I park the rental car if I have to take a boat to get there???

HELP! 🙂

Hello Moni,

If you have a car parking will be difficult for Hotel on the Cay. Parking in Christiansted is difficult in general.

With a car staying at Divi is good. Divi has a nice beach and pool for hangin out, swimming, doing watersports. The casino is fun for nighttime. After that you need to explore!! Divi as mentioned, is a bit far from everything - as it is on the east end of the island so you have to drive to the center and the north shore to enjoy other beaches and attractions. The east end is nice for long drives along the coast and through the pasture areas. Cheeseburgers is not to far and is fun for a casual dinner and drinks at night. For the day time definately go explore the island, you have a car so use it.

You might want to get a cheap cooler from K-mart of the grocery store on St. Croix and get some soda and water, snacks. After you day or two of hanging at the Divi beach and pool, fill your cooler with ice and snacks and head out - spend one day checking out the attractions like the Rum Factory, Whim, Botanical Gardens. Spend another day visiting some of the beaches. Take a day sail to Buck Island another day. Go shopping and beach day another day. Visit some of the great restaurants in Christiansted. Head to some of the fun unique bars like Off the Wall. If you are interested in Diving you can hook up with a dive outfit at Cane Bay and try that.

With a rental car Divi is a good choice but be aware its a not centrally located so driving is necessary to get out and about.

Hi there,

I just got back from the Divi on Tuesday. I absolutely loved the place. It is a long way from just about anything but the resort has everything you need. There is a wonderful band playing at the casino now from North Carolina. They play mostly oldies and sound terrific.

We did have a rental car and went out exploring daily. The roads signs can be a little tricky but it's easy to find a main road if you happen to take a wrong turn. The drive from the Divi to Cane Beach is really beautiful. It's a wonderful way to see all the island.

I thought the Divi was the perfect place for my stay because it wasn't too crowded, the beach and pool were nice and the food was excellent. Plus, I didn't mind the driving. (of course I wasn't the driver either....LOL). It's true that you do get used to driving on the left, however, it's the turning to the right that you gotta watch.

We were also able to take the drive to Sandy Point. What an amazing place that is but talk about rough riding to get to it. It's worth it though. Beautiful.

We also toured the Buccaneer Hotel and found it to have gorgeous views but I still prefer the Divi because of the beach access I guess. It was right at my door and the sunrise was perfect every day.

Wherever you decide to stay. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I did.

Jazzie.

Thanks for the info...but too late. 🙁

I already reserved the Hotel on the Cay b.c. I leave this friday and was running out of time to book. The islander said Divi was far out....even though the website pictures were awesome.

Either way, I am sure the island is sooo beautiful everywhere....I changed my rental car also...so I will have it the last 4 days.

Moonraker and Club 54 are good bars/clubs. Also Rumrunners is a good place, I hear.

Moni, I stayed at the hotel on the cay last month. Nice place, not fancy but clean, has it's own beach and is close to everything (in Christiansted). You'll have to try The Bombay Club for dinner at least one night and The Fort Christian Brew Pub and Rum Runners are fun places right on the water. You can walk to all 3 . Did you go to the Hotel on the Cay webpage?
