Having a hard time deciding on where to stay?
St.Thomas or St.croix
We are getting married on one of these islands in May2005.
I have gotten a ton of information so far from this website. Our party will consist of only
two couples. We are considering on St. Thomas : Secret Harbor, Marriott and Bolongo
Bay. On St. Croix we are considering : Divi or Buccaneer. We spoke to a travel agent
and she suggested the Grand Beach Palace which was the Renaissance Grand
Beach Resort.
Next question , all inclusive or not ?
We have never visited the islands before.
Help

Take a look at this place too ( http://www.hotelonthecay.com/index.php). My wife and I got married at Hotel on the Cay in St.Croix last month. Nothin' fancy, just us, a couple witnesses they found for us (great people) and the ferry boat captian who married us.Oh yeah, and Peter, the hotel activities coordinator who took pictures for us (on his day off) and dropped them on a cd for us to take home
The place is small, quiet, relaxing, close to Christiansted, has it's own beach, it's pretty reasonable too, especially with the wedding package. I've only been to STX the one time and never to STT. STX gets no cruise ships, well there's gonna be an Itailian line stoppin' there soon, so I understand it's way less crowded than STT.
you can email me with any questions.

All inclusive or not? Not in my opinion. I've seen a lot of people who get down here and wind up eating and drinking off property because the food at all inclusives do not offer a great variety and they get bored or the quality of food is not what they were looking for. Also, you wind up staying at the resort so much because, after all, you have paid for it that you don't get out and have the adventures on the rest of the island. Just my thought ....

Hello Deneen,

You are going to have a hard time choosing you picked some great properties 🙂 on both islands!!

Secret Harbor is nice property; quiet, relaxed environment, great customer service, nice beach, nice restaurant on premises.

Bolongo is a nice property as well, not sure its wedding/honeymoon material though - thats just my opionion. The beach is ok, great/fun restaurant and bar. Nice Caribbean night.

Marriott Frenchman's Reef has a nice wedding set up and does a great job. The hotel is more of a multilevel resort, different then the beach front atomsphere Secret Harbor has. Marriott does have Morningstar though which is on the beach so if that is what you are looking for perhaps you can stay there. Frenchman's Reef is the ritzier of the three.

On St. Croix Divi and Buccaneer are both nice. Buccaneer is really a wonderful/beautiful property with lots of things to do at the resort from yoga and massages to golf and tennis.

Tough choices.

All inclusive or not - if you plan to hang out at the resort much of time then its a good idea. Sugar Bay Resort on St. Thomas is a nice property and it has all inclusive options. If you are renting a car and planning to explore, beach hop, restaurant and bar hop, shop, hike just be out and about then you might choose not to do all inclusive so you don't feel pressured into making the most of the money you paid by sticking to the resort beach, bar, restauarant ect.
