Suggestions on where you would go for lunch/dinner in St. Thomas for palate satisfaction and reasonable cost.
I appreciate the advice

Cuzzins on Backstreet for local cuisine.

INDiGO at Magens Point Resort is wonderful. Good prices, too. The lunch specials are normally $9.50 or $10.50 and the regular dinner menu's highest priced item is $22.50 for the bacon-wrapped filet mignon. They've got a killer Friday special for $19.50...a 12 oz., galic-rubbed prime rib, cooked how you like it with all the sides and for an additional $12.50 you get half of a stuffed Caribbean lobster, stuffed with crab meat, red peppers and their special spices. You can get just the surf...or just the turf, up top you. Be sure to make a reservation if you go on Friday, as word of mouth has gotten around (it's only been open for about 5 months and they haven't done any advertising.) and it's full on Friday's.

There is a restaurant guide called "Menu, please" that you can pick up at the airport or your hotel. Very helpful. Bon apetite! (sp?).

One of the places we especially enjoyed was Sibs (out on the gazebo). Mims was also nice (Balongo Beach & now at Bluebeard's Beach Club from what I hear) as was Iggie's at Balongo. The Greenhouse is another regular stop for us in the evening. On St. John we were impressed with both the food and the service at Lime Inn.

I would agree with Cuzzins in St. Thomas. Good local food and good service for a very reasonable price. We also liked The Greenhouse, but would prefer Cuzzins. On St. John, we didn't really care for The Lime Inn. We preferred The Fish Trap and Morgan's Mango. Prices are higher than in St. Thomas, but food was great.

Hello Ingrid,

(Frenchtown) Hook, Line & Sinker, Tuscany Grill, Craig & Sallys (pricey). (Downtown area) Greenhouse, Gladys, Cuzzins, Cafe Amici. Banana Tree Grill (a little pricey but good food & service & view). Sibs, which is above town is good and has good prices. Blue Moon Cafe on Secret Harbor and Tickles at Crown Bay Marina are good for lunch or dinner. Iggies at Bolongo. So many good places to eat. 🙂

We stayed at the Westin. I wouldn't recommend their restaurants unless you're dog tired and don't want to go to town. Tage (pronounced Taj as in "Meritage" the chef's dog) is a great restaurant. We had 2 appetizers, 1 bottle of wine (not too expensive), 2 entrees and 2 desserts for about $160 including tip. Well worth it. Nice atmosphere.

Forgot to mention that while in STT a "must" for lunch (or dinner, I guess) is the Shipwreck, across from the cruise ships. Best burger on the rock...it's 3/4 lb!!!! I never even get the fries. Just the buger. And in Havensight, the Delly Deck has great lunches for good prices. Try the Cancun Salad...wonderful. If you just want a slice of pizza, try Pizza Amore across from Havensight. Get the "Works" slice for $3.75...sounds like a lot of $$ for a slice, but it's a huge slice! And yummy, too!

OH! I almost forgot to mention the Subway! Oh,man! They make the sub right there in front of you and....sorry, just kidding! Couldn't resist! :^)

And after you have your burger at Shipwreck or pizza at Amore, cross the street again and head on over to StoneCold Ice Cream for some of their creamy treats. Then stick a fork in you cause you're done!

Noche IS fantasic! Try the boar chops! Or the Bison steak! Yummy! And how about the sink in the restrooms? Isn't that the coolest?!?

Also, last night I went to Charlotte Tamales in Havensight area (cool name, huh?)...Biker John is gonna make a killing! His food is fantastic and it's cheap. My wife and I split the "Bro-rittio" and chicken quesadilla (sp?) and there is still enogh left over for both of us to have lunch today! that Bro-ritto is freakin' HUGE! Haha! The bill for four people to eat, 3 beers, and a soda, with leftovers, was only $36!! Granted, you are wating on paper plates, but it tatses so good!! Try it, you'll like it!

If you're into good, really cheap food and esp. burgers, the Crazy Cow downtown is the bomb! Of course, it's been a long time and I'm not sure if it's still in business. Definitely a local joint, but you get an occasional tourist in there. Not much for ambience, but the burger meat is the best I've ever had.

Ginger,

If you start at the tram, go towards the entrance to Havensight, and when you see the scooter rental place, turn left. It is in theparking lot behind them. Or behind Modern Music, if you'd rather. Blue building, small sign. You will usually see a Harley sitting out front on the porch. Closed on Sundays.

Maltliquor Dre,

The Crazy Cow, which is in the the alley/street next to the Greenhouse. may be the ulimate "greasy spoon", but it sure does make some good food! Love that burger, and the fried chicken ain't too bad, either! How did the rest of us forget about the Crazy Cow?!?

Hello,

Crazy Cow is closed, last I checked. Their burgers and fries were good.

Has anyone eaten at The North Drop restaurant? Formerly Bryans Bar; new owners, redid the restaurant, similar menu.

No one mentions Chloe & Bernard's at the Westin! Pretty expensive, yet very impressive, to say the least - if you want a romantic dinner evening. The food was superb (and I'm a food snob - my son is a chef on St Thomas). Also, Asolare on Northshore Road is probably the best for cuisine and the views (but get there before the sun sets!).
Bon Apetit

There are a lot of places to go on STT/STJ for good "palate satisfaction." Unfortunately, the reasonable and lunch restrictions really narrow it down. There are lots of good delis and Grateful deli is one of my favorites(red hook). Shipwreck Tavern is good and close to downtown but its a greasy spoon in my book, which isnt bad but i wouldn't say it drives my palate crazy. I would say Simple Feast is good on STJ. Lime Inn is good but you'll spend a lil more. There's Polli's and they are ok. I am partial to Cheeseburgers up top of Bordeaux Mountain. Best view so anything tastes good! Skinny Legs is popular in Coral Bay. Burrito Deli is pretty good in Red hook, too. As far as lunch goes, nothing really gets me too worked up because some of the better places don't open until dinner. Hope I helped. Ciao

I would add Mafolie on the hill above Charlotte Amalie - great view and food. Also, on the East end - Bottoms Up has good simple fare and entertainment; Molly Malone's and Duffy's in Red Hook; and, Robert's, Bonnie's on the Beach and Arthur's at Cowpet Bay.
