Seriously St Thomas...where is the reggae music?? No live bands not even a venue devoted to reggae one night. What's up with that??!!
Seems only place I can find reggae music is on the radio...thumbs down St Thomas!!
Soca and Calypso are more popular here, which you will also hear on the radio along with Reggae, Dancehall, R&B, Hip-hop, etc.
Unfortunately, I do not know of band that plays reggae that even tours St. Thomas.
You will hear Reggae played by DJs in clubs, frequented by the younger crowd, but not Bob Marley type Reggae.
Dancehall (Buju, Mavado, Busy Signal, Gaza Slim, Lady Saw, etc.) is what you will hear mixed with other genres of music.
I agree. The difference is I am trying to change that and maybe you could help. If you'd like to help please let me know. My email is lanceo@kulchashok.com. We could use the help in many ways. Email me if you're interested in helping start a reggae night in St Thomas
I am talking real reggae from Bob Marley to Midnite to Burning Spear, Jah Cure, Luciano and other positive reggae music. Please help. Thanks for the read

Best bet is to take to the streets and approach the venues where live music is played.
Time for a Ferry Ride, Inner Visions is playing The Beach Bar in Cruz Bay on St John tomorrow night and High Tide on The 15th.

Reggae Anthology will be offering reggae all night long at Arian's Restaurant on Dec 17 and 31st. Doors open at 9 pm. $10 cover. Picked up the advertisement card at the Natural Food Store in Long Bay.
Funji's on the Waterfront at Point Pleasant used to play reggae, but they closed this summer. There used to be a reggae club across from Havensight, but they closed.
Paradise Point seems to be trying to mix up their entertainment, so maybe they might be open to a reggae night.
Ms411, could you please elaborate about the venue at Arian's, Reggae Anthology?
Is it a band or a Dj? Who is promoting it?
& What type of reggae are they playing?
seabreeze, I'll type everything that's on the card:

ms411, should have saved your typing fingers! Since there's no contact number and no indication as to whether it's live bands or DJ, probably best to call Arian's Restaurant which is listed in the 'phone book at 776-1401.
Ha, ha! I typed DJ's. Don't you see it? It looks like they're having several: Dilli Fingas, Word Sound & Power, Ras Shanaka, etc.
It's nice to see something new for Old Year's Night.
Ms411
Thank you for all the info.
You didn't have to type everything, but it was very informative.
It looks like it is going to be "Old School" Reggae, if you will.
Meaning the original reggae that first surfaced-roots, ska, rub dub.
No dancehall playing those nites it looks like.
There will be probably a lot of Rastas there, because of the "Ital" food & drinks and the genre of reggae they will be playing. That is my guess/opinion from what I read, because I am not looking at the flyer. Sometimes the design of the flyer can give you the type of vibe the venue will be producing.
The other side has the $10 cover.

You can try Johnny's Inn in Barbel Plaza-Be-1. He might be interested. It is one of the few locally owed West indian establishments. He tries to cater to a more mature crowd. Phone # 340- 775-1332
Thanks for all the hints Seabreeze. Will definitely be checking out dec 17 event. I wanna help make this happen. Will let you know how my contacts go...
West Lindy has a few local shows coming up, check it.
