We will be staying at the Tamarind Reef next week. Can anyone tell me how to get to the above market located in Sunny Isle from Tamarind Reef?

I know that Schooner Bay Market is close to Tamarind Reef, but have heard they have better buys and bigger selection at the Plaza Extra.

Thanks
Yvonne

It is right down (East) from the K-Mart in Tutu Park.

He is referring to the one on St. Croix... Plaza Extra is not located in Sunny Isle, it is located in the United Shopping Plaza, which is about a mile from Sunny Isle. You are better off going there than Schooner Bay, because it is MUCH larger. To get there, it's kind of hard for me to explain in writing. Don't worry about directions until you actually get here. It is an easy 15-20 minute drive, and just ask someone at the hotel for directions and they will tell you.

When you do get there to shop, don't forget to visit the deli in the back. They have great prepared food at a good price.

YL,

Paula and I will send you an email with directions. It's not hard to find once you've driven Centerline Road a time or two from Christiansted.

Thank You..Thank You....
By the way, I'm a she... : )
I have heard Plaza Extra in STX is much better than Schooner Bay Market. I'm sure with the right directions, we can find it.

Hey folks...

Here's one for Schooner Bay Market....

Obviously Schooner Bay is MUCH closer to where you are staying but you should also know that it has a great deli and bakery. It is not a "super market", but is more a boutique grocery and deli. The selection is not as extensive as Plaza but most things are there and the prices are not much different. I know I can buy Cruzan Rum at Schooner for the same or less, unless there is a short term special.

We shop at both places, depending upon what we are looking for. Unless you are doing a major "stockup", Schooner will fill your needs nicely....

Schooner Bay Market is the Best the east end has. We like to support our local businesses.....

i'd have to agree with stXer. eventhough i'm a west-ender, i hit schooner bay as much as i can when i'm on the east side. the deli is great, and serves up some mean sandwhiches for lunch. they do have a pretty good selection considering it's size. the prices are fair in comparison to the rest of the island. i think it would be more cost effective, as well as time effective, to just shop at schooner bay. plaza is a super market and tends to have almost anything you need, but schooner bay will have general food you need for vacation. also consider food town, which is much closer to you then plaza. or possibly pueblo, which is also closer, but tends to have a little bit higher prices.

Thanks and I appreciate all of your input. We are there for 7 nights so not going to do a major stock up and sure don't plan on cooking. Mostly snacks, deli meat, bottled water, and of course liquor.
