Less than 2 weeks until I make the journey to STT and was wondering where cash was absolutely necessary there and on STJ where I'll probably go for a day trip? I know I've read about port fees for taking the car ferries (are they at each stop or just once a day fees or what?). What about shopping? I figure most brick and mortar stores will take debit or credit cards, but what about the 'market' type shops set up in tents and whatnot...are those usually cash only? Any other cash only type things I might be missing here that I should take into consideration? Renting a Jeep (assuming Budget has any left when I get there with my reservation), so taxi fares won't be necessary. Thanks!

Hi BrentD,
Street/beach vendors work on cash, sometimes you can negotiate prices with cash in establishments in town, like buying jewelry for instance. I hate to mention this, but in case of a hurricane you might find that ATMs are not working. I notify my credit card company of my travel dates so they know it's me traveling to which island.

Enjoy your trip
