We are visiting STT from a Sun - Tues for 9 days in July. I've looked at the cruisecal website to see when the busy days will be for cruise ships. What would you recommend to do when there are busier cruise days compared to when there is only 1 ship or 0 ships in port?
We will be doing lot's of beaches, visiting ST John more than once, some shopping. Based on that, when is good time to go to St John, Magens, other beachs, shopping, etc.
We were wondering if we should go to ST John on a big cruise day to get off of STT or would it be better to stay on STT and go to STJ on a lower cruise ship day.
Thanks for your input.
Carl
"Big cruise ship days" don't really occur in July, even if there are two or three ships. In the winter when there are 7 ships, that it a big cruise ship day! It is better to do your downtown shopping on a day with a couple of ships, go to St John on a lower ship day. The crowds in St John are the Villa People.
Carl, one of the wonderful things about the VIs is the pace -- SLOW. I know you're excited about your trip and want to pack as much as possible into your stay, but please try to ease up a little. Get here, get your bearings, relax and then decide what you wanr to do.
Have fun.
EE and Linda are spot on...
Summer cruise schedule is nothing to worry about and you need to go "island time" ASAP. That said, travel to STJ on 'heaviest cruise' day and visit the 'other' beaches since Trunk is the magnet for most cruise tours. If you leave shopping for days when no cruise shios are in you may be disappointed to find many shops are closed as well.
What is your suggestion on getting to "island time"...Should I inject my arm with Rum?? 🙂
"Injection" infers rapid response, which is contrary to "island time".
Better to sit back and sip that Rum my friend. 😀
Get off the 'plane, sip on a complimentary rum punch (or two or three) and then mellow into "island time" as you wait and wait for your baggage, then wait and wait for either your rental car or taxi and, well, you get the point? Have a great visit!
