Okay, I have an esoteric question for you. I was wondering if any of you who travel regularly to STT know the best time to purchase tickets for summer travel? I know that some travel websites advise that you should purchase tickets 3 to 4 months from the date of travel for the best fares. Have any of you noticed any patterns for when you can get the best fares for travel in June or July?
Thanks!
Stray Cat:
First, set a target price (but be reasonable).
Second, search for fares on sites like www.kayak.com, as often as possible.
Third, buy your ticket when you hit your price (or thereabouts).
I've found that there really is no "right" time to buy airline tickets other than the above suggested method. Yes, you could buy the ticket and find that the fare dropped $10, but it could also increase $100. I wouldn't wait until the last minute.
I've watched my one way return fare, for April, drop from $476 to $260, today....I'm booking today. My outbound one way fare was $202 (purchased 6 months ago). I don't think the fare will go down much further.
Good luck!
