I know the limit for booze is 5 liters plus one if it is USVI made and five cartons of cigarettes per person. Now my question is.... does the person bringing it back have to be 18, 21 or what? We will be going down as a family of five... mom, dad and three kids that are underage. Now can I theoretically bring back 25-30 liters of alcohol as well as 25 cartons of smokes given that I max out the allottment per traveller?

Just trying to figure out ways to subsidize the trip.

Hi Patrick, It would seem to me that an underage person going through customs with liqour is probably a bad idea. They'll take it away.

I'm 19 and I tried to bring liquor through customs when I went back to school in Rhode Island.. unfortunately I couldn't bring it, because even though the drinking age is 18 in St. Croix, it's 21 in Rhode Island.
