Hi Everyone!!

I'm back and busy planning all of those late minute details for our Virgin Islands trip in July. I have a dilemma....

We fly into STT airport and want to rent a car for a couple of days. We are staying at Pavilions and Pools and then will take the ferry to Tortola. Where do we rent our car? If we rent it from the airport, how do we get it back there? If we rent it from the ferry, how do we get to P&P and the ferry from the airport? What would you do? Thanks for your suggestions.

I am assuming that you will take the ferry from Red Hook to Tortola. I would look into National or Avis at the airport and then return the car at Sapphire Resort (National) or Avis (Sugar Bay). If they will let you do that you will be charged some more but it would be the easiest.

If not then I would take a taxi (30 for two) to PP and then walk over to Saphire Resort and rent a National Car.

Have a good time. We own and rent at Crystal Cove, right on the beach. You will probably walk through our property (it is ilegal as the entrance to the beach is through Sapphire Resort but everyone ignores the private property signs, for now).

Thanks billd for your advice. I checked into National, and there isn't one on St. Thomas. It only lists BVI as having a National rental place. Someone else suggested that I take a transfer to P&P from the airport. Call Bowsky Car Rental, and they will deliver our car to us at P&P and then drop us off at the ferry when we are ready to leave. Have you ever heard of them?

I appreciate your help!

🙂

Although I've never dealt directly with Bowsky, I've had many friends over many years who've rented from them when their cars were in the shop, etc. I can recall one little glitch a couple of years ago when a car they rented to someone had slipped on its registration and the renters were pulled over by the VIPD on one of their "sweeps!" It was all sorted out very quickly and with no muss or fuss. Other than that I've not heard of any problems with them. They're not into the tourist rental business (as in mega advertising, etc.) and are a local business dealing with locals and also such as yourself who need a rental for less than a week. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Thanks old tart! It does help. I have tried searching for them online, but it doesn't look like they have a website. I guess I will keep searching for a phone number and call them. Have a great Sunday!

We rented from Dependable and would recommend them. They are located in town but will pick you up at the airport and take you back at the end of your stay. You might check to see if they'll take you to Red Hook after you bring back the car.

I ment Budget not National. Their number is 340-779-2211. That is the rental office at Sapphire beach. You can easly walk to Sapphire from PP.

have a good time.

We have always rented from Dependable as well and have always found them to be more than helpful with transportation issues. And it is nice to have them pick you up right at the airport. A quick phone call when you land to Dependable and they get there right around the time you have finished collecting your baggage (as long as the baggage belt is running).
