Please help. I will be traveling to STJ in Septmeber for the first time. What are the "must things to do and the "best places to go"? Water activites, music, shopping and relaxing are an interest to me. Where are the best places to dine? I do not want to miss out on anything. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

My sincere thanks

YOur best bet is to cruise through this wonderful message board under different searches such as snorkling, beaches, hiking, sailing, boat rentals etc to see what people have been doing and what they recommend. This is not an island for gamblers, jet skiers, etc. Its an island for flip flops, walking beautiful quiet beaches, kicking back without an agenda. The party life is there but on the quieter side compared to other islands and the activities geared toward the outdoors. Just start reading and you'll see!

As karrieb suggested, search this site. Also consider one of the books St John Off the Beaten Track or Feet, Fins & Four Wheel Drive. They are both full of information.

For a honeymoon I would recommend watching the sun set on a beach. Rent a dingy and find your own private little island/or beach and have a picnic lunch. Go out on a sail boat (take Dramamine an hour or so before just to prevent the chance of getting sea sick.) Rent a jeep and go exploring. We had a romantic dinner at The Equator restaurant at the Caneel Bay Resort. It is a beautiful resort to take an evening stroll. Don't miss out on some snorkeling.
Congratulations. You picked a beautiful place for a honeymoon.
