.
*Hi,
I am supposed to be going to St. Thomas on Saturday 8/21/04 for one week. But it looks like rain city. Should I cancel or are there things to do (besides shopping) even when it's raining?
Thanks

Lucky you. It's been my experience that St. Thomas is NOT rain city. Yes it does rain at this time of the year, but it's usually a short, hard rainstorm followed by some of the most beautiful sunshine. The rain is very warm, but it will soak you in a matter of minutes, so you've got to get into shelter.

What to do?

Way too many things to list. First of all, it's beautiful there. So realy you don't have to do anything but enjoy the beauty. The people are wonderful - some of the nicest anywhere. I recommend Coki Beach for snorkling. Meghan's Bay is beautiful and great for sitting on the beach. You might also consider a side trip to St. John's.

All in all, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

John

Hi John,
Thanks for your input.
Hopefully the clouds will not follow me and I can lounge on the beach most of the time. I was concerned about the weather because I looked at the forecast for the week and it kept saying rain, rain, and, rain.

It is very dry in the USVI right now. This is the dry season here. So far today on St. Croix, it's rained three times-for about two minutes each. We probably haven't even had a tenth of an inch of rain. It was sunny while it rained.

Take a look at a radar image of the Caribbean. Usually there is very little rain anywhere in August.

We just got back from STX and it rained 5 minutes one evening the whole week we were there. The day we left for STX, I checked the weather and it said thunderstorms and rain everyday and it didn't.
I really wasn't worried cause I figured a day of rain at the beach beats being at work!

You certainly can't be 'checking' the weather for September, NOW. As noted above, this place is NOT rain city. Don't worry about the weather - come and enjoy! Worry is part of the reason you need a vacation - so don't bring that with you.......leave those cares somewhere else!
