Hi! 🙂

Taking a trip with my husband to the Virgin Islands in July 2008. We are flying into St. Thomas and spending two nights. Then we will spend 4 nights each on St. John and Tortola. What island should we visit after St. Thomas? A lot of people are saying that St. John is the best, so I am wondering if we should save that for last. However, I don't want to have to go through customs twice if it's a hassle. Thanks for the advice.

It's probably easier to make your flight home from St. John to St. Thomas airport instead of coming via ferry from Tortola but it would depend on your flight schedule and how it works with the Tortola/St. Thomas ferry. It might make a long travel day if you have to catch an early ferry from Tortola since you should be at the airport at least 2hrs.before your flight. You will go thru customs/immigration when re-entering the US from Tortola and again when leaving St. Thomas. I would choose to stay at Caneel as the last leg - saving the best for last.
Did you decide to stay at Pavillions and Pools or elsewhere on STT?

Hi CShell! Thanks for answering my post. Okay, so this is what my itinerary looks like now:

St. Thomas - 2 nights
Tortola - 4 nights
St. John - 4 nights

Yes, we did decide to stay at Pavilions and Pools. I know a lot of people had negative things to say about it, but I have talked to the managers there, and they seem very nice. I think the key is to book an International Room....more space, upgrades, and amenties.

By the way, our flight home from STT is in the afternoon. Does that make you change your opinion about the order, or do you still think I should keep STJ for last? I have heard such wonderful things about it.

🙂
