I have a 9:00p.m. arrival time and I 'm worried about where I'm going to sleep if the flight is delayed and we can't make the last ferry to STJ. Any suggestions for an expensive room for 3 ladies, in a safe part of STT?. I realize I am most likely going to be paying for 2 rooms for the same night, but I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions, PLEASE!

We always arrive on that flight and have no problem making one of the last few ferries.

Fret not three ladies

We've arrived even later than that and still made the ferry from Red Hook. Once it had even untied from the dock and we had to throw our luggage on and be pulled/jump on board. This was before 9/11 of course. Just be sure to tell the taxi driver you need to make it on time. Does anyone know if the new Red Hook facility is finished?

It was not finished at Xmas time. Bolongo Bay is a safe place on the way to Red Hook if you choose to play it safe and book a room. Plus you can hang out at Iggies & start on the rum drinks 🙂

Since I found out the last ferry leaves STT at midnight and not 11:00, I think I'm going to have faith we will not miss the last ferry. To be on the safe side, we're going with just carry on bags.

Thanks for all the great advice!

Unless you are booking a private taxi going with just carry ons won't save much time they wait till the taxi is full before leaving anyway.

In past trips I have noticed that they sort of leave in the order of which one gets full first. I ask if I can on one that is about to leave and have had pretty good luck. Not always, but if I check bags, mine is always the last to come off and everyone seems to be driving off in their overstuffed taxis while I'm still standing there with a few other folks that are in the same boat as me. It doesn't always help, but in my experience, it usually does. It also keeps us from overpacking. Although we still take more than we need, even with only using carry on. Not sure what I'll do about the shampoo, conditioner, etc. issue. I guess I'll buy it once I get there.

Good luck! If the ferry leaves at midnight, I bet you'll have plenty of time.

Just be put your mind at ease, I would have the numbers handy for:

Crystal Palace (RonUSVI's beautiful B&B)
Holiday Inn
Best Western Emerald Beach
Sapphire (large place - should always have at least ONE room open)

I wouldn't make reservations. I think you can find something, if worst comes to worst...which I don't think it will.
