My wife and I are going to be in St. Criox on the 30th of October on a cruise. We have planned this island to be one in which we just lay around on the beach. We would like to find a beach that is easy to get to (cab/shuttle) from the cruise terminal. We would like one in which it has some amenities such as snorkel rentals, chairs, umbrellas, bar, snacks etc. I understand their are numerous to choose from as this is an island. LOL I'm hoping someone that really enjoyed a particular beach could help direct us that way! I look forward to your suggestions! Thanks in advance. (Paul)

I would recommend the beach in front of Sandcastles on the Beach. You can get a day pass from them which will give you chairs, towels and use of their smallish pool. The beach here is usually lovely and the water is beautiful. Right now some of the sand is missing (hurricane Earl) but it will be back by then. There is a really lovely restaurant, Beachside Cafe, for lunch.

Thanks Linda. Sounds very nice. I'm starting to get that vacation mode going on. I hope I can still be productive at work for at least a few more weeks...

You don't even have to take a cab. Everything you want is within walking distance of the pier. The longest part of the walk will be from the ship to off the pier. There are places to eat across the street like Polly's, great wraps and drinks. The beach on the north side of the pier is good for snorkeling. There's a place to rent equipment too. I think the office is in the court yard behind Polly's.

The best beach and beach bar on the west end is Rainbow Beach. They rent chairs ,jet skies, kayaks. atvs.and they have the best bartenders on ST CROIX...

Rainbow Beach on a Saturday will definitely have more action and a younger crowd that Sandcastles. And the beach bar there is very much a beach BAR. There is a very nice, up-scale restaurant on Sandcastles. You didn't say how old you were, but you did say you wanted to "lay around on the beach". Two choices with a very different vibe.

Please post a message after your trip to let us know what you did and how it was. Linda
