What did everybody do last week during the rain? Was everything open?

I was wondering that very thing. The past several weeks there have been a few folks on this site who have been concerned about the weather during their upcoming trip. I was just wondering how their trips turned out. Anyone care to share?
We were on St John the week and ended up having a blast. After many years of perfect weather, it was interesting to experience a tropical storm and the after effects. We managed to get a few days at the beaches, toured the island to see land slides and washed out roads, and had a few bushwackers between the rains at Joes Rum Hut. Most businesses that were planning to be open that time of the year managed to be open, so we didn't have to go without. We were staying above Chocolate Hole and were sad to see all of the moored boats end up on the beach. We did get to see one boat at the Westin get hauled off their beach to a nice round of applause from the onlookers.
We always consider our annual trip to St John to be an adventure - this year was just a little bit more of one.
It is interesting to see the different reactions guests had. Some shrugged their shoulders and said, oh,well. They are the ones who had a good time and had experiences, like the land slides, that tourist seldom see. They ate, drank and enjoyed themselves, albeit probably not the way they planned. Others bitched and moaned and generally made themselves miserable. These people felt the storms happened just to annoy them and we (the islanders) were somehow to blame.
I thought this was a G rated board?
As far as I'm concerned, the word I used IS g-rated. OK, maybe PG. lol
They didn't have to shovel or plow it!
Nope! lol
Maybe the grouchy vacationers will now learn to appreciate the island and what it has to offer. I doubt it though.
