What are the best snorkel beaches in ST. Croix.? We do not like snorkleing in a strong current and I do not like to be too far from shore. We plan to do Buck Island one day. Looking for other options also. We wil be staying at Chenay Bay in June.

Hello Bahia,

You can try Cane Bay & Davis Bay.

Bahia,

I saw people snorkeling at Chenay. I don't know if there's much to see-- reefwise, but it seemed pretty calm. The guys who worked at the little beachside bar were nice and told us that we could rent gear right there. Very pleasant atmosphere there, everyone seemed friendly.

Also we saw people snorkeling at the Bucanneer. And Cane Bay had several people snorkeling and sunning when we drove by.

You'll love Buck Island!

Both beaches at Buccaneer have good snorkeling. Lots of grass close in at Chenay Bay. A great place to see starfish and turtles, not much else until you get out to the point.

Try Cane Bay...The biggest barricuda I have ever seen seems to live there.

If you have the strength you can swim out to the "wall". It is best explored with scuba gear, but many interesting critters come closer to the surface.

Some of the west end beaches have excellent snorkeling and the best sandy beaches on St Croix.

The east end beaches tend to be either grassy or rocky, however if you can make the trek to Jacks and Issacs bay beaches you will not be disappointed.
