I'm trying to decide where to stay, but I want it to be all-inclusive. What is the best all-inclusive resort in the VI?

Depends on what you like. Wyndham Sugar Bay is a very nice all-inclusive that is more family-oriented. Bolongo Bay is more of a party atmosphere. I've stayed at the Wyndham several times, but not Bolongo Bay. I thoroughly enjoy the Wyndham - - food is good (esp the breakfast buffet), pool is nice & clean, they have iguana feedings, a Kids Club, beach is OK (little rocky), close to Red Hook, rooms clean, great view, nice alcohol selection.

Just wondering why you want an all-inclusive... The restaurants around here are plentiful and the liquor is pretty cheap. The USVI is a place to get out and explore. IMHO, of course! 😉

It's been MY experience over the last nine years on STT, in dealing with visitors, which I did as my job, the ones that opted for the all-inclusive option seemed to all regret it, as they found that they were never AT their resort...too much to see and do around the islands. It's not like Jamaica where you'll be stuck on your compound for the entire trip. You may want to re-think the all-inc. option. JMHO, but, as EE said, the restaurants are numerous, fantastic and are not over-priced... and the drinks? Whoo! The drinks are cheap and EVERYWHERE! Haha! Either way you go, I'm sure you'll have fun!

I have to agree. This is the wrong place for an all inclusive. Way to much to see and do to be locked into a meal plan at a hotel. If you are doing this to stay in a budget then I would recommend finding an inexpensive condo or hotel room and spending the money you save to rent a vehicle and eat out. Take a day sail, shop downtown, take a power boat to the BVI's for a day etc etc etc. If its not the budget and you just want to sit around the pool looking at the ocean and being waited on then there are lots of better places for that.

I have never done an AI, but after more than 10 years on various forums for the VI, I have to agree that so many have reported that they've regretted chooing the AI experience for the VI. In some places (as Marty pointed out), AIs make sense - like Jamaica. But, in the VI, the pleasure is in sampling different beaches, different restaurants, attractions, etc.

If you are someone who really likes to drink and party (I can understand that - so no problem with it), just hit the KMart for your liquor and keep it in your room......get a room with a fridge (and maybe a kitchenette w/ a blender) and make your own drinks to carry to the beach in a cooler or thermos. When liquor is $5 or $6 per bottle, you really can't go wrong........unless you spend an extra $100 a day for an AI plan....just to drink $6 worth of booze.

However, you may have a really good reason for wanting AI and nothing we can say will change that. If that is the case, the Wyndham seems to be a beautiful resort with great amenities.

Either way.....ENJOY! Hope you'll stick around and keep us informed as you plan the visit. We're happy to help where we can.

My husband and I were in STT back in September and we stayed at the Wyndham and did the all invlusive package. We were glad we did. We'd get up in the morning, stuff ourselves at the yummy breakfast buffet and then head off in the jeep for the day. We ate so much at breakfast that we weren't even hungry unitl 3pm or so and that's when we'd be done running around seeing things. We'd head back to the Wyndham and grab a burger, hotdog, chicken sandwich or whatever from the Iguana Grill (along with drinks) and then hang at the pool for a bit. Then head up to the room to relax and then shower and all for dinner. Then we'd head to dinner at the Manor House or wherever around 7pm. After that, we'd either hang out at the bar, play slots or just go back to the room. We were too exhausted to go back out on the town!!

The machines at Sugar Bay are not slots, They are Video Lottery Terminals, aka the crack cocaine of gambling.

Too many wonderful places to eat on the island to do an all-inclusive. Plus, driving to and from the restaurants lets you explore more of the island! Plus, like Bluwater said, liquor is CHEAP, so just buy a few bottles of rum from the store and bring them back to your room.
