When is the best time of the year to see the whales migrate thru the north side as I keep hearing about ?
I belive season is December through April but most are spotted between late January and all of February (so I am told as I have yet to see one 🙂 )

December/January thru April on the north shores. Never spotted them in the USVI but have in the BVI - best was
mother and baby humpback off Virgin Gorda. In the late Winter, there are several organizations that sponsor whale-watching charters for several weeks.
People tell me all the time that they have seen them on the North shore, Peterborg area! I too, have never seen one and this year it is time to change that! 24 yrs. now, time for that to change! 🙂 I never seem to be in the right place at the right time!
EAST is one of the organizations that typically has a couple whale watching trips around STT/STJ. Their website is only showing the 2007 event calendar right now though, http://eastvi.org/whalewatches.htm.

A few years ago while on the 7 am ferry from Cruz Bay to Red Hook (which is usually filled with commuters) the captain completely stopped the ferry so we could all view two whales going through. It is a sight and a few minutes in time I will never ever forget.
