BigDaddy,

With all due respect, the price you are asking is way too steep. I hope you get it but your chances are slim to none. We have a couple of 2 bedrooms and a couple of 3 bedrooms at the Westin roughly the same weeks and from experience and knowing what else is available on the island, you must know that this is a stretch. If you are looking for rentals, do your research so you have some comparisons.

Good Luck

I realize there are private villas that rent for less, but
we also have a 1 bedroom villa at the Westin and have been told by them that they consistantly rent in the off season at $3500/week. We aren't thinking of renting our unit yet (or ever!), but would be interested to know what the market will bear.

Interestingly, we recently got an unsolicited offer to buy the unit for about 20% more than we paid for it last year. Turned it down of course!

WoogaWooga,

You will definitely be able to sell your week for a profit and your investment has probably gone up significantly depending upon when you purchased. It also makes you feel good when you see what they are going for now. Of course there is little or no inventory left. If you have time track some of the weeks on ebay when they come up and you can get a general idea of what they go for and what you may be able to get depending upon the week. Travel agents will always bump up the price along with other rental agencies if you use them. In addition, the Westin will quote you prices that are per night and not realistic for many.

Wish I was there now.

Happy Thanksgiving

That is wayyyyyy to steep....Good luck witha that. The Westin is NOT all that. Don't expect to be like a Westin from the states because it is NOT and i mean that. The Westin on St. John is in need of renovation BIG time the beach is by far the worst beach i had ever seen and the location is not the best either. I stayed there once and i will never stay again. There are better places to stay on STJ than the Westin.

The beach is probably the worst on St John. It's a manmade beach not a natural beach. We don't spend any time there because there are so many beautiful beaches (and so little time!). We've been in two villas and both were in good shape as were all the public places. I've heard of problems, on this forum, with some of the hotel rooms but haven't experienced them myself.

We've been twice and felt both times that service has been top notch. They're on island time like everyone else, but they follow through. If you call the desk for something, they'll call you back afterwards to be sure it was done. One time we had a very early flight and had to meet the water taxi at 5:30. I asked them to have a bellman get my bags at 5:00 to take to the dock. Needless to say I was a little nervous about the early departure and whether they'd be there on time. At about 4:30, I heard a noise outside the door and there was the bellman, waiting patiently for us. No problem, mon!!

I don't have any problem recommending it.

I rented Villa at the Westin with 3-BR & private pool last July (week 28) for $2500/week if that provides some perspective.
