Help, we have a reservation at the Westin St John in February. We are now concerned about the hotel after reading some bad reviews on Trip Advisor. I expect some Iland conditions, but these reports of moldy linens and bed bugs? Should we seek an alternative hotel?
I seriously doubt that is the case. If you get there and you see anything close to that, if you complain to the front desk they will immediately deal with it. I have a hard time believing that this happens on a regular occasion or they wouldnt have the four diamond rating. Trust me, anything that isnt perfect, be the squeaky wheel rather than suffer in silence. I think the Westin is a great place to stay and I work at Caneel.

My husband & I are celebrating our 20th anniversary on St John this coming Feb & we are booked at Caneel. So I am just wondering, would you rather stay at the Westin & why. And also, if we have a chance to request a certain 'premium beachfront' room or building at Caneel which would you suggest? Thank you very much for any info you can give me.
Scott,
we are owners in the Villa section at the Westin and have used it 3 times and love it.
Our frig did have a leak last year and they fixed it very quickly. For a place that advertises the "Heavenly Bed" i would be very surprised at linen problems
I am sure there are more positive reviews of the Westin than negative. The Westin is a great place.

I don't think that Chris meant anything bad about Caneel when he made his statement. Caneel is top notch as well.
I read the same reviews on Trip Advisor and had the same concerns before our stay at the Westin in June. We typically stay at Hilton / Westin / Marriott when we travel, and Westin St john was one of the best cleanest rooms we have stayed in. I would have no second thoughts about returning. The staff was also very helpful and friendly.
Hello,
My new husband and I honeymooned at the Westin for 7 days this July and are already planning on staying here when we come again. We visited Caneel for the day and weren't impressed, we also visited the Ritz on St. Thomas and weren't impressed. The Westin's grounds are beautiful. Yes, the bay does have a lot of seaweed but you can always travel to the other gorgeous beaches if you want clear water. I too, had read way too many bad reviews of the Westin before we left. We had a room beach front, 20 paces to the sand and couldn't have asked for more.
