Hi...if anyone needs a place to stay Sept 1-8, 2007, we are renting out our timeshare at the Westin on St. John for that week. $3200 or best offer.

It's unit 4312 in a renovated building...It's one of the upgraded 3BR villas with every amentity available. It sleeps up to 10 (including sofa bed). There are two master rooms with king beds and a third room with two queen beds (great for the kids). If anyone is interested, please let me know.

you are asking for a rather large amount of money for a September rental...........you can get a villa with a pool for under 2k in September...............just a thought........

Where can you rent a villa with pool which sleeps 10 people for under $2000 in September? Does it include air conditioning, spa, multiple televisions, dvd player, internet access, upgraded furnishings, extremely comfy beds, maid service, and every other convenience The Westin has to offer? Our family has been visiting the island for thirty years. Yes, there may be places which accomodate 4-6 people for under $2000, but they definitely don't offer all of the amentities of The Westin....and they charge extra per person when renting to groups larger than 4 people. Regardless, the Westin clientele generally differ from the private villa clientele and therefore the price difference is a moot point. Compare my rental price with that of other renovated 3BR villas and then tell me if I'm priced too high. Keep in mind, most kids are back in school during this week and the resort is incredibly peaceful and quiet. Many people prefer to travel during this time because they will find more solitude.

please dont get the wrong idea I was only letting you know summer rates are much lower than winter .Here is just one web site that lists over 200 St John Villas and many sleep 10 and are in the 2k range. http://www.homeaway.com/st-john/s/154/fa/find.squery

Does this villa have its own pool, or do you share the Westin Resort pool? Or, do the villas have their own shared pool?

Just trying to understand the pool situation.

Not that I can go then - but I can keep an ear out for anyone interested.

Bluwater,
We just stayed in one of the three bedrooms at the Westin. They do have there own pool and a privacy wall around. Thats the good news. The bad news is it is impossible to see the ocean from them. We enjoyed the unit because of the large number of people we had staying throughout the resort. Ours with the pool and privacy wall around it became the hangout. As for the rate this is a fraction of what we payed , although we were in high season. This would be a great property for families with children as the courtyard is private and you have full access to the rest of the resort which is very kid friendly as well. I am assuming when she says one of the updated units its one were they actually put a wall between the two upstairs bedrooms and not luan sliding door like the one we were in? Also I was told some of the units have new kitchens as the one we were in had some issues there, like the dishwasher door that fell clear to the floor when you opened it then the rack had no wheals so it could hold itself on the incline anyway. As for me I would have rather been on a boat but it was a nice change of pace and I now know more about St John than I likely would have otherwise.

I agree...the only flaw with the 3BR villas at the Westin is the lack of ocean view. The unit does have a private pool and outdoor hot tub enclosed in a fenced courtyard. You'll find that most rental homes have pools, but most are pretty small...like the size of a medium walk-in closet small. The villa pools aren't gigantic, but compared to many homes, are a pretty good size. They have waterfalls, so you can hear the sound of water, which is kind of nice. There are french doors from the downstairs bedroom and family room leading out to the patio. There are also loungechairs by the pool and a dining set for outdoor eating. Our particular unit is tucked around the corner and in the back of the building, so it's extra private. There is a beautiful tree-canopied walkway leading to the front gate. Also, yes, our building is one with contemporary decor and two completely separate upstairs bedrooms. One has two queen beds; the other, a king with a seating area. All rooms have televisions. There is a huge laundry room with full size washer and dryer and enough room to store beach items. Of the three bathrooms, one has a bathtub and shower, the second has a shower only, and the third has a bathtub only. The bathtubs and showers are oversized....you could have a small party in some of these bathrooms, haha.

Although your timing doesn't work with our week, if you're willing to sacrifice a view, you might be able to find a decent price for a villa at the westin. Everyone prices theirs so differently, so you might have to be a little flexible with your travel dates. The one thing I have learned about traveling to St. John is to arrange my time off around the most affordable trip possible. That means that I find the best lodging deal possible, check airfare almost daily for months on end if necessary, and always travel on the off-season. The second option is to be flexible enough to take off with 30-60 days notice. If I suddenly find cheap airfare and if there is a decent villa available for a last-minute discounted rate, then I can go for a pretty substantial savings. For the past few years we have bought tickets for anywhere from $450-$600...and that's all the way from California. Just a few tips to help anyone save a bit of cash when traveling to the island...more to spend on yummy food while there.

I would like to inquire about the current availability and price for the timeshare the first week in September. Having had a very difficult past year , I would relish the chance to spend a week in paradise with close friends. Feel free to email me at your convenience.
