I'm looking for a good wedding planner in St John or St Thomas. The few planners I've spoken with are VERY expensive. Usually wedding planners are 10% to 15% the cost of the wedding. This was was about 35%, are there any reasonably priced wedding planners in the VI.

You will get a lot of response to this question!

There are many companies out there as well as resorts doing weddings! I find that with going through a resort (or cruise line) tho, the prices WILL be much higher!
Hope you find what you are looking for and Congrats on your engagement! 🙂

I actually just got married 2 weeks and 1 day ago! You are going to have such a great wedding in the islands!

We used Janelle Scott as our planner and she is WONDERFUL!!!! She also has a set price for her services and is so nice and helpful!

You can find my trip report recently posted as well!

Good Luck!

Not a bad idea. We are looking to host 60-75 guest for the ceremony & reception while keeping the entire wedding under 10grand.

I'm getting married 7-8-07 on STJ and using Mary Bartolucci of Island Style Weddings - www.islandstyleweddings.com. She has been really great and made the process very simple.. I haven't stressed at all. She charges a flat fee, which I didn't find to be all that high. I have to say though, you may have a tough time hosting 60-75 ppl on a 10k budget. I have around 30 guests, and am spending that, not including accommodations and day trips, etc. The food, whether you get it catered or go to a restaurant, is EXPENSIVE. I am having mine catered and only doing cocktail-ish stuff and it's still taking over 25% of my budget... but I know it will be GREAT. Good luck!

Janelle Scott is the best and has the best rates that I know of. She is willing to do as much or as little as you need. She doesn't lock you into a package and works with some of the best restaurants on the island, not just the generic hotel food. Oceana and Agave are two of the best
Congratulations

Katiehf- I saw that you had your wedding catered and was wondering what catering company you used? I am getting married down there this winter and would love to hear recommendations. Thanks.

We eloped the third of August. After we had a private chef from Passion Fruit Chefs ( http://www.passionfruitchefs.com/ ). I felt it was more affordable than the alternatives, and was good food ( Chilean Sea Bas...mmmmmmmmmmm) as well. They also do catering. They wedding cake they got for us was delicious too! Congratulations!

I second Cheryl at www.viweddings.com. She did an absolutely wonderful job when I got married. I actually lived on STT and had to leave to go back to the states on short notice, so my fiance and I decided to get married before we moved back. We contacted Cheryl and 3 weeks later we were married in a beautiful ceremony at Villa Sunscape (the villa on the webpage). She did a great job and really was a blessing when it came to paperwork and such with the VI government, it would have been extremely frustrating if she did not help out. Go with Cheryl, you won't be disappointed!

I'm getting married on St. John on May 24th. My fiancee decided on Stacy Mulcare at Ceremonies of St. John.

Since the topic came up, I'm just wondering if anybody has had any experience with her. So far, everything seems to be running smooth, with very little involvement on our end.

Thanks.
