OK Islander. Its going to be late april, where is the best spot for a wedding on St Croix? Dinner afterwards at??

I've read about Point Udall (forgive if spelled incorrectly) or were is a remote beach spot. The woman I rented the villa from recommended Villa Madeline.

Villa Madeline is a beautiful spot!! Do you want the wedding and the dinner at the same place? or beach wedding and reception/dinner at a restaurant?

I don't know what your budget is, but Villa Madeline will be expensive and you will have to get your guests up from the beach to the restaurant after the wedding. Or have the wedding up there too -- the views are spectacular.

There are 3 or 4 other really nice beaches with restaurants/cafes on them that might also be what you want. This would be a less formal, less expensive alternative. My choices:

Hibiscus Beach Resort, restaurant, H2O. this one is mid Island, west of C'sted

Duggin's Reef Restaurant. Way east of C'sted, across from Villa Madeline and The Reef.

Tamarind Bay Reef Club, Deep End Restaurant. East of C'sted.

Sunset Grill. Way west. North of F'sted.

For really funky, you might look at Changes in L'Additude (West) or Off the Wall (North Shore)

Good Luck.

Islander/Linda J

- Could be in one spot I guess. Since I have never visited St Croix its hard to plan or attempt to visualize the right location. A woman warned me about the "no-see-ums" at sunset. How romantic would that be to smell of OFF on the beach. :o)

To be honest privacy is my main concern. If I have the wedding at a resturant I'm afraid I would have to many eyes watching over the event. The thought of that makes me nervous. Travelling from one location to another should not be a problem. The party in whole consists of 12 and we will have three automobiles.

Have either of you been to Point Udell?

Villa Madeline expense? Example of dinner for two in dollars? Whats your second choice behind Villa Madeline.

Thanks again for your help.

Point Udall would definately NOT, at least from this photogrpahers point of view, be the most scenic beach on St.Croix for a wedding and/or wedding photos. You are up on the bluff and the beach is far far below....all you'll really see is ocean and sky! The land around that tip of land is pretty barren and almost New Mexico/Arizona desert looking as far as the landscape is concerned. Scurbby bushes and cactus!

Not exactly my picture perfect spot for an island wedding.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before -- Carambola Beach Resort. I think it will have everything you want. The beach is beautiful, it faces west so a sunset wedding on the beach would be perfect. And just a few steps up the beach is their very nice restaurant. Depending on how many folks you expect, you could have dinner on the terrace. I would guess a dinner for two people would be around $60-70, not including drinks.

Carambola has a web site. You should take a look. IMO this is one of the prettiest, most caribbean-looking properties in the Virgins.

Hello,

I have to agree that while Point Udall is very private... its not the most scenic for a wedding in my opinion... I would suggest a beach (yes you will have some people watching) or perhaps the Botanical Gardens (there are a few really pretty spots that would make a nice setting for a wedding). Carambola is a great choice and the wedding could be at one of the ends to get more privacy. At the Buccaneer Hotel there is an old plantation mill on the hill fairly close to their lobby area that I saw decorated for a wedding and it was really a beautiful set up and they have several good restaurants there so the reception can be held there to.

Yes no-see-ums tend to come out at sunset, so its something to think about. SInce your group will have cars the drive isn't a big deal unless you have your wedding at Carombola and the reception at Villa Madeline - long drive...

Are you using a wedding plannner - what suggestions have they made if any??

Here are some links for info:

Boy - I have to agree - Pt. Udall is secluded but NOT scenic as in romantic. Sunset Beach would get my vote! You could have the wedding at sunset to one side or another of the main area in front of Sunset Grill that way giving yourselves some privacy - and then be right there for a lovely after wedding dinner. They even sometimes have live music.

Carambola would also be lovely....

Alternately.... I know the lady who owns Rust op Twist.... this is a beautiful plantation property on the north shore. The old windmill sits atop a hill that overlooks the park-like plantation property grounds and then across to the ocean. (Our home is across the road from here and we've appreciated many a sunset from the windmill.) I can't imagine a more romantic setting for a wedding. In fact - I'm sure it's been used for such in the past. Email me privately for the property owner's name and phone number if you are interested in contacting her....

Nearby restaurants.... The Waves has a nice restaurant and food. Bogies at Cane Bay Beach Club is nice too - as is Lobster Reef. None of these is "fancy"....

The people who own The Waves (a hotel/restaurant on the North Shore) also own a rental Villa on the shore just north of Columbus Landing - called Villa Margarita. There are enough bedrooms here for your whole party and it may be a lovely setting for your wedding.... Then either cater in a dinner/BBQ or head into Christiansted to Savant and have your wedding dinner on their recently opened lovely back patio...

Regards and Good Luck!

Hello Loyal Reader,

What do you have in mind? You could have it on a beach, rent a large sailing boat or cat and have your wedding and receptionon it, you could go with a villa or poolside at a resort?
