Shopping advice??

My fiance and I are marrying in March in St John, but are visiting the week of Thanksgiving to finalize wedding preparation. (Cashed in all of my AAdvantage miles - thought this was a good excuse to escape to paradise a little early!!).

My fiance had bought my engagement ring in Barbados while we were on a cruise, and we both want to buy our wedding bands from somewhere special... like St Thomas or St John... particularly since we are getting married on St John. However, we would prefer not to go to a 'chain' that is pounded in your ear repeatedly while on a cruise ship. Does anyone recommend any local jewelers we should visit while in the area the week of Thanksgiving? (I read a review once from someone who said she bought their wedding bands in Cruz Bay, but I cannot find that review any more - can't remember which board it was on either - ugh.)

Also, since I have not bought a wedding dress yet, and want something "breezy", we thought we would look while visiting over Thanksgiving as well. He will be wearing khakis and a shirt. Any shopping suggestions for this as well? If not, I know there's a bridal outlet 30 minutes from my house here in Dallas, but thought I would check here first. 🙂

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Mandy - we were married on St. John last June - IMHO I think you have made a perfect choice!!! Try Coral Bay Jewelers in Cruz Bay, I think you will be very pleased. Also, I bought my dress here in the States ( a very simple breezy sleeveless white dress) and had no trouble bringing it down (We flew AA and they put it in First Class closet on way down) and gave us a bottle of champagne as a gift when they found out we were getting married on St. John.......My husband, son and I will be on St. John for Thanksgiving week also, if you have any other questions, please feel free to email me.

Good Luck and congratulations!!! Sheila

Thank you so much, Sheila! Recommendations are what I am looking for, and thanks for sharing your's.

I am so excited to be there for Thanksgiving week. We are even going to (finally) have an engagement picture done, and we just couldn't think of a better place! 🙂

By the way - did you have a beach wedding on St John?

Try Harry at Nita's Jewelry in Drakes Passage in town as I have heard good things about him from friends that have used his services exclusively for years.

Mandy, I just got onto this website. I know it is late in coming but Nita's Jewlery on St. Thomas is the BEST! I have been twice and both times bought several things. I had a pair of earrings made for my daughter's wedding, 2 diamonds each (slight drop style) cost was $700.00 and appraised in the US at $2,500.00, now that is a deal! I also bought my daughters husbands wedding band from them. They are willing to please and have the best prices. Harry is the owner. They are located at 5126 Drakes Passage, St. Thomas USVI 1(800) 556-4827. Hope this helps you or anyone else that reads it. Best Wishes on your Wedding Day!
