Hi everybody! So I got myself a wedding consultant Tina at weddings the island way as recommended by Sherri thank you Sherri! she seems very nice and I'm confident that she will arrange everything great for me, but hopefully you guys can help me out with this!I spoke to Tina about our lunch reception as I was thinking we may have it on the beach but she recommended The Blue Moon cafe has anybody had a wedding reception there I would love to know how it went or even if you could email a picture to [email protected], My idea is that we would have a section to ourselves as there will be 50 guests travelling with us from Ireland(big Irish Families!!) where there would be a BBQ/ Buffet set up for the guests we were going to add a bar package also , and try and get a guy a steel pan drum player that sings also for the duration of the reception so that it will be all very relaxed and informal!Tina is going to look in to menus and bar packages for me I have had a look at there website and it looks cool but I want opinions as I am sooooo far away I don't have a clue and really need honest opinions!!!!Hope you can help, If anybody needs any advice on Ireland I can repay you by providing that information lol!

Irish, we ate at the Blue Moon Cafe and it's perfect. There is a restaurant and a bar area and it's right on the water. Their food is very good and I think it's a great location.

The only thing I worry about is the parking, if everyone has cars. I think it's kind of tight.

Maybe Sherri can help you out with that.

Hi Connie, thanks for the info no we have no cars we are arriving that morning on the Oasis of The Seas with Royal Caribbean so just in the island till 5pm I will probably use Move my group to transport the guests from Magens bay to the Blue Moon Cafe , mite be a silly question but could we walk from the cermony location to Blue Moon is it far?

You cannot walk from Magens Bay to Secret Harbor - you will need to arrange safari type buses or taxi vans.
IF you go up on this website and put the cursor on St Thomas, using the drop down menu, there is an interactive map function.

Hi Irish Bride,
Wow, my daughter is getting married at Magens Bay on 6/18/09 and we are having lunch at Blue Moon Cafe! There is only 12 of us, but I will let you know how it goes and I will try to post pictures! We are also using Tina! I have been talking with her for about a year and she has been soooo wonderful! Sherri has also helped me out with rental car, etc. They really seem like great people. I can't wait to meet them. I will post something when I return, we are leaving tomorrow!

🙂 Nancy

We have been at Secret Harbor several times when there were weddings on the beach right there. It's a very nice setting! The Blue Moon Cafe is a great restaurant and the food is, most of the time, stellar. Why not simply have the ceremony and the reception at the same place...then no need to worry about the transportation from Magen's Bay? Plus, if you are planning a daytime wedding, that beach is insane with so many people all day long. CHEERS!

I had my wedding reception there and also got married on that beach. We wanted a place where everyone can just walk over to the reception site. We had 40 people and the Blue Moon Cafe did a wonderful job. There's an area for a cocktail party then you can walk right over to the dining area which they separated with tall planted trees. Another plus was in the sunset.- Our reception started a 4pm-we were able to have the most beautiful pics. We didn't do a buffet, but we did have a fixed menu. It was a choice of three different entrees and we also had open bar for the entire time.

I wish I had some pics to show you, but we were married 11 years ago and digital pics were not that big then. I had a photographer and someone video type. (our wedding planner took care of that). We also had a steel pan ordered, but he never showed! We did get out money back, but I was disappointed. Oh well, the wedding was wonderful even without him 🙂

Great idea to have the wedding and reception on the same beach.

Depending on the number of ships in that day (your ship is one - any more??) Megans could be crazy busy. Also if the ship sails at 5:30pm you will be required to be on the ship by 5pm so leaving the reception venue by 3:45pm to be safe (never know about traffic) build in ime in the morning to get your license, taxi to Megan, taxi to Blue Moon, taxi to the ship it might make sense to just collect your license and then proceed to Blue Moon - ask your coordinator what she thinks.

Congratulation (I almost forgot)

Pia (formerly from England - so almost neighbours :))

Hi everybody thanks for the posts we are coming in on the oasis of the seas and I think it will be the biggest liner in the world when it sails so I would imagine Magens Bay will be packed with People!I just like the idea of a change of scenary for the lunch reception and I think better value is to be had from the locals resteraunts as opposed to caterers on the beach etc,or am I wrong about this? I have heard about other beachs on the island and have heard great things about Smith bay/linquist beach unsure of the spelling of this! I would like to have the cermony on a beach where It would not be too busy and I have read that this beach would be quieter that Magens bay , If I was to get married on Smith bay how long would it take to get from the beach to Blue Moon Cafe?

Lindquist / Smith Bay Park is less than a 10 minute drive to Secret Harbor -- Certainly will be way less crowded than Magens any day of the week - beautiful white sandy beach - ( but extremely limited facilities - )
It would be a wonderful venue for a wedding and is a short, flat, easy trip to Blue Moon afterwards.

Hi Irishbride,
Lindquist might be a wiser choice and it very pretty! (just remember it can be a little windier vail-wise). Having the wedding at Secret Harbor is also possible. I love the feedback you are getting!

Hi all, yep I think Im gonna go for lindquist beach I know its short on facilites but the guests will be only be there for a short time as we are going to head to the Blue Moon for lunch reception after !Sherri Will Blue Moon give us a private section for the reception and also I was thinking of getting a steel pan drum player that sings to entertain us a the blue Moon cafe would that be possible I mean would Blue Moon Cafe allow that?and also if anybody knows of a good steel pan drum player thats sings that would be great I think I read thats it would cost 250usd for the 1st hour and then 150dollars ph after that does this sound right?I will probably be having the reception at 1-4 so I would need him for 3 hours ??If anybody has any pics of lindquist beach or blue Moon cafe could you post them or email them to [email protected], Thanks again I am so grateful for all the info!!!

Their website with lots of info and photos is www.bluemooncafevi.com/

Talk to them directly about entertainment, etc. - they are VERY accommodating!

Irishbride: You need to speak directly to Julie or someone at Blue Moon. There is no private area, it is a covered area by the sea. They will move some plants to screen your area from the rest of the restaurant, or you may opt for the open patio. I would think that 50 would just about fill up the restaurant. Andrew Douglas plays pan there on Friday evenings. He has a day job, but maybe you can get him to switch his schedule around. And it isn't Blue Moon Cafe that would be concerned, it would be the Secret Harbour owners and resort. Again, call or contact the Blue Moon. This is in high season, correct?

Again thanks for the infor provided I will do that I will call Blue Moon and maybe speak to them can anybody offer any alternatives to the Blue Moon Cafe ,As I was saying above I am just looking for somewhere thats serves nice food and that isnt over priced somewhere on the waters edge or with a very good view of the water that I can have maybe a private area for the reception maybe a outside deck that I can arrange the music (steel pan drum players) In regards to the food I think I want the guests to really experience the local culture so i dont want a big fancy sit down meal as we will be doing all that on the ship later that evening so I wanted somekind of Bbq/buffet

Hi Irishbride,
Tina can make all of your arrangements for a Steel Pan player, Blue Moon, etc., not a problem. If you want to handle that part yourself, that will be fine too. We use Andrew Douglas and Don Herbert, depending on who's available. Both are excellent and you can't go wrong! Lindquist will be an easier location and the beach is never busy during the week..... lots of room! Things are coming together for you! (tu)
